Red face

Some one at Ford better have a good
answer to this one since mine is GREY
also!!!

That was one of my pet peeves with the look of the front end styling from the first time I seen it in the sun light.
I was contemplating billet grill(s) to replace the GREY grill(s), but if it
was screwed up at the factory, They
should replace it with the correct
one!!! I find it interesting that the build #'s are high and low.... sorry for the rant, just a little PO'd

yoda,
were talking about GREY. if you had a grey grille you would know it. it in no-way looks black, and is very noticable, it doesnt match the bottom. i think because his was a late # like the one i saw , svt might have ran out of black ones.

Question

Anyone know where or what name of that hood is on the Lightning? Any information regarding it would be appreciated! I was wondering if that was the F-1 hood?

As to the stripes, I have been seriously looking at painted stripes. I think silver stripes (keyed to match the wheels) on my black L would look pretty good. I dunno if they should be centered or offset though. But, I have two good reasons not to do it (and these reasons have prevailed .. so far)

1) I like the stealth thing. Its nice to have your opponents not see it coming.

2) what? mess up my stock paint?

2) Cops. Cops hate stripes.

ok, 3 reasons.

Hey what do you guys think? I have a guy here that can get Mystic *which to my understanding is normally 250$ a pint* and enough of it to do flames on the hood *Cowl* and front fenders and all for 400$ all together for the labor and the paint...I had originally planned to keep the truck as clean as possible, but just because it is such a good deal alone I was considering it...I think it would look pretty Tuff......

Sal once suggested that Mystic ghost flames on a black truck would be killer... and I agree, I think that would be VERY sharp.

If I had a super-clean black, I think I'd have them done very lightly so that they'd kinda surprise people... that HEY! factor.

My truck is very very very Red, though. No flames for it.

Later!

Hey Roger,
That is my hotdog looking truck, and I'm glad my fellow lightning owners opened my eyes to driving around looking like a hotdog, maybe that's why some many people point and wave. It's funny, you never think your kids or your truck is ugly. Ha!
The Hood is from
American Auto Designs, Inc.
16051 pinto Rd. Unit 1
M.Ft. Myers, FL 33903
Phone 941-995-5052

The hood is great. Great fit, does not move at high speeds(yes, even hotdogs can roll down the street at a resonalbe clip), and looks real good on the inside after painting.

Thanks for the laugh Guys, everyone at work loved the hotdog story.
Alvin

Dogleg,
I actually really kinda like your paint; you must have some cahones to take a chance with a new vehicle and thats to be admired. Here's what I may do to mine...

I thought it was pretty sweet looking.

I would like to take the idea with the hood inlets being color cordinated with the rest of the vehicle.

My truck is black, so I would like to have the inlets painted red possible. I think I will go with the red/black or perhaps *metallic blue*/black idea.

Then I could have my plate read.

BLKNBLU

I leave all the competition black & blue after they tangle with beasty!

Hey Steve,
I love the classic look of white cars and trucks with blue stripes. It's a hard thing to do, that truck stripping. You don't park anywhere you don't want the wife or friends to know about.

I almost went with dark blue stripes instead of the red. But I figured a truck as bold as the 99.5 Lightning needed to be done in a way the would be hard to over-look.

I guess if I would have gone with blue instead of red, my fellow lightning owns would be calling me Superman instead of Hotdog.
