Trans Brakes?

I heard last year somone was using a trans brake at one of the sanctioned events and everyone screamed about it.

BUT, for us that want to add a trans brake, what are our options.

Trans brakes are bad news on a 4700 pound truck.

NMRA allows trans brakes. but like stated above it is alot of weight to get moving off of a transbrake. it definitely not for the daily driver type truck. there are atleast 2 companies making a brake for the 4r100 now but with mixed results.

If someone makes one that WORKS I will buy it and test it out for you guys. I don't want one that does not work right and burns the trans up under normal street driving. I could care less if it explodes at the track though. If someone wants to do the research for me and find it, let me know. I will scoop it up. It also can't be outrageously priced either. -Mat-

Anyone making any billet geartrain components for the 4R100 yet? I foresee many broken input shafts, od planets, od ring gears...etc..etc. If it breaks we fix it...No biggie. Just curious as to what can stand up to the abuse of a brake used on these trucks.

I think a BTS tranny would stand up to it nicely. Brian uses a billet input shaft and some cryo treated hard parts. Give him a call and ask his opinion.
