Transmision Shield/Blanket questions
I have been looking for a transmision scatter shield, but all I have been able to find so far is a RCI universal trans blanket
I know I can make the RCI Blanket work, but I am afraid that being a dailly driven vehical, the heat, dirt and oil from being driven dailly might be a problem.
I like the TCI transmision Shields, they are solid 6061-T6 aluminum and wouldn't have the problem of the trans blanket. however they do not make a unit for our transmision.
I got to do something, I have heard to many stories of transmisions blowing up and parts coming into the car and doing major bodilly damage.
So if anyone has any ideas let me know, I am open to any ideas. I would rather go for a shield, but if I have to go with a blanket I guess that will do.

I hate to say it Don but if you can't find someone who makes a shield you'll have no choice but the blanket.
I believe you could "modify " another shield to work, however any modifications to an SFI approved part leads it to not be SFI approved any longer.I doubt that anyone would check but it still wouldnt really be on the up and up.I guess if you are going to go through that much trouble you may as well go legit.
I agree with the blanket as well. They are heavy, get filthy, and hold all kinds of heat inside the tranny. Not my idea of a "good thing".Only choice I know of though.
Good Luck

The shield goes over the bellhousing and the blanket goes over the trans. The shield is the most important item, because the flexplate is basically an extremely heavy giant saw, and if it comes off at sveral thousand RPM it'll cut right through the floor and through your legs. Bad news! Is there enough clearance under the floorpan to even fit a shield?

Not a direct fit for the 4R100 but like said above you can get a universal one and modify it to fit, we have done it on several trucks so far. I think we had the RCI one as well and we had to use the stock transpan to make it fit. The deep sump is to big for the blanket to fit over, the ford racing transpan may work Im not sure.
