Am I the only on that thinks two separate boards are ridiculous? Why should we have to watch two places when it would be far easier to have a single repository for questions. It would be far better to have the NLOC site just link to this board. There is an established community here and it would be a better use of time and resources if the NLOC and the F150online webmasters could collaborate on a shared board.

Cool

For Gen 2 information, I can see your point... but I'll be doling out club news and such over on the other site because there I can have a forum dedicated to that and don't have to worry about that kind of information disappearing in the mass of kill stories and header installs. Yet I need the other conversations there in order to generate the traffic that will get the message out.

It's a matter of simple logistics for me. Personally, I read about 6 message boards a day. I really don't need another one either.

You know, to me, things like this are weird because I cut my teeth on the SHO-Times mailing list where the SHO Registry threatened to sue us if "two words" of Registry information ever appeared on the list and Bill Staib, president of the SHO Registry, was very anti-the-Internet because it messed with this little information monopoly baby.

I've tried to take the opposite tack and make any information I have freely open and available to anyone who wants it - I spend my personal money to get it out. The down side is I have to support two distinct communities and still try to get the news out to both of them. The only way I can really do that is to somehow get the communities together to at least stare at a bulletin board.

I don't make any money from your hits so there is no financial reason for me to try and "lure" you there. Notice the absence of any banners or other frills on the NLOC site. Everything there comes out of the club budget, which basically is my checking account.

I'm glad for what some of you have done over there already - Justen's tag post and Chuck's kill stories were very appreciated.

There's a lot more to my thoughts on the subject, things I torment myself with, but this will have to sum it up for now. I hope you can see my side of the situation.

BTW, I always point new Gen 2 owners who email me for information to this discussion forum.

I read much more than I post, but it's

I for one think there is nothing wrong with 2 boards. How many Mustang,F-body and other car and truck boards are there? Every board has its own personality and not everyone might want to be here. All I can say is just try it out and see where it goes...it is a NLOC board right? I know that doesn't mean much to allot of people but some it does. Jusy my .02.......

Congratulations on the new NLOC site, Jeff - very nice!! And, the discussion board will be a great addition to this and other internet "data mines" for our trucks.

BTW, I am also a member of the SHO Registry and look occassionally at the SHOtimes site, so am saddened to hear about your bout with Bill S. I've met Bill (at one of the SHO conventions in Atlanta a few years ago) and he was a nice guy. Sorry to hear he reacted that way to you.

Best wishes and good luck with the site.

Mike
