Bobb:

Nice Catch!!

My 25 year tenure with Volvo and Saab ended in 1991, long before the Internet surfaced, we did such things with paper and on TV.
I can assure you, that had that happened with either of those companies, someone would be looking for a job in a hurry the next day!
Did you notice the mistake appeared more than once, I think three times, if you continued to follow the thread. As well, to me anyway, it is a difficult site to navigate and I finally gave up.

Again, good eyes.

Cool

At this link Ford has misspelled "SVT" as "STV" in the description of the truck...you'd think of all the places for it NOT to be spelled wrong it would be on a Ford webpage...

That is so cool!!! You'd think that they'd know.
I don't know how many times I've heard MSCE, too. For all you non-geeks, it should be MCSE. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.

Microsoft ENGINEER?
Engineer what do they engineer?
My favorite is "Web development Engineer"?
Why can't they call them specialist, or something of the like.
It's just funny, Engineers work hard to become Engineers, but hey microswirl can make you one...

I have also noticed in the Motorsport ads for the Lightning rims, they spell it "Lightening". I got a kick out of that.

Bobb: (most spell it with one "B")haha... just havin' fun... Don't want to fall prey to what got *** (BADASSSVT).

FYI: en·gi·neer (nj-nîr)
n. Abbr. e., E., eng., engr.

One who is trained or professionally engaged in a branch of engineering.

One who operates an engine. (Well, sort of..)

*** One who skillfully or shrewdly manages an enterprise. (My personal favorite).

Ok and how does that match Microswirl?
Not Flaming, but I Laugh when I see "Web Development Engineer" even more when it also says most be experiensed with Front Page...

With Half a brain you can learn to use Front Page, alot of new "Web Development Engineers" Can't even hard Code, now that is sad.
I'm not trying to down grade what you or other Mircosoft System Specialist do, I do know it can be very hard work, but it's not engineering.

Silverbullet: Never have I agreed with any one more. I work on the web for a living, doing web applications, server side apps, and of course, building sites. I cannot stand people that build a "front page" site... or something similar, and then say "hey... I'm gonna start a business" and call themselves developers and so on... GRRRRRRRR.... just venting. It's frustrating LOL... But you're completely right... tell them to write even a simple page in simple HTML and they'll say... DUH

Silverbullet:

Ok, I'll ask... What do YOU think Engineering is? Your definition, please........... Maybe include YOUR occupation.........
You're talking apples and oranges, anyway.. I'll have to disagree with you though on the fact that what an MCSE does IS ENGINEERING.
I'm not a web-developer, so say what you want about those "engineers". Educate yourself on what an MCSE is and what WE really do, and you'll see your error. (IOW, know what you're talking about before you insult real professionals)... MCSE's don't do FrontPage. Building networks and making homepages are two completely different things. BTW, I came home and caught my six-year-old playing with FrontPage, and making a hell-of-a go of it, so I guess we do agree on something....

BTW** Let your network/connectivity guy know your oppinion on MCSE's and see if you can log-in the next morning. Then try to find your files.....That is, if you really work where they have those computer thingy's everywhere...

I didn't start this, I only made an analogy.

My kid is also an MCSE for Microsoft with the title of support Engineer even though his major was computer science - not engineering. As an engineering major, I certainly understand that title. BTW, when I was a police officer a hundred years ago, while booking a guy that I had arrested and inquiring as to is occupation, he indicated that he was a sanitary engineer. Being fresh out of the school of engineering at the University of California, I inquired as to where he got his formal training. His reply was, "Nowhere I'm a janitor."

Question

Hey guys,

I am a computer professional myself with a degree in Computer Science. The MCSE is a whole different ball game than someone who calls themself a "Web engineer". That is simply a title someone came up with to make web development sound more professional. A MCSE does actually engineer a network. You have to know how to determine routers, # or servers, based on parameters like bandwith, the capacity of the transmission media as well as the distince between pieces of the network. I am not a MCSE, I am a programmer/analyst, but I know the difference between a MCSE network engineer, and a web developer.

I develop my own web pages using a text editor and writing pure HTML and JavaScript, and I do agree with you on your view of front page. It can really help to rapidly set up a site, but you still need to know what is happening behind the scenes to handle more complex situations.

As far as this error on the Ford website, I am sure they contracted the work from a non-Ford agency. Still should have been caught though.
