Chris:

Thank You!!!!!

I won't even respond to skydive's janitor comment.... I'm sure he wasn't making a comparison, just relaying a funny little story..... No hard feelings.... (I'm gonna kick your A** at Bithlo, Sandy). Just kidding, just kidding, just kidding.....

Building a network is not engineering.
Designing the the hub or the network card is.

Building a Web is not engineering.
Designing A web Server (the parts, you know there are in there right, and you understand the Electrical Engineering Right) is engineering.

"BTW** Let your network/connectivity guy know your oppinion on MCSE's and see if you can log-in the next morning. Then try to find your files.....That is, if you really work where they have those computer thingy's everywhere..." -This still does not make him an engineer-

You do not have to have an engineering degree to be an engineer, you don't even have to have a degree. I can understand A Computer Sceince Grad being call an engineer, he has taken engineering classes and math classes.

"A MCSE does actually engineer a network. You have to know how to determine routers, # or servers, based on parameters like bandwith, the capacity of the transmission media as well as the distince between pieces of the network. I am not a MCSE, I am a programmer/analyst, but I know the difference between a MCSE network engineer, and a web developer" -determine router, #of servers, with those parameters does not make him an engineer, it makes him a SYSTEMS MANAGER...

Go take the FE (Fund Eng) test and see how you do. (That is what the goverment uses to say what is and is not engineering)

If you have put in the time to become a real ENGINEER, we would not be talking about this.

About Me:
BSME, Speciality Automotive, (yes it is an accredited speciality)
And even more I work as an engineer, being an ENGINEER and being call one are two different things...

Engineers are trained in science and technology and dedicated to the practice, teaching ,administration of their profession.

P.S. When you can take the oath of an engineer, you can (not that you did) become an engineer. (I did )

I respect the work some MSCE do, but they are not an engineer, there is nothing more too it.

"I didn't personally attack YOUR profession....." -Yes you did, by calling yourself an engineer, you are not an engineer-
"BTW, you really had to say an "oath of the Engineer"? You've got to be kidding..." -Yes, it nearly the same thing as the doctor hypocritical oath-

I think it is quite amusing that you resort to quips like “You've got to be kidding... That's too funny......” and “nuf said", instead of proving you’re an engineer.

Come on admit you monkey with a keyboard. I will admit I a monkey with a caliper…

I am not attacking your profession, it is can be very hard work, but it doesn’t make you an engineer…

Bullet:

I'm as much an Engineer as you are a as***le.

I'm not responding to this anymore.... Everyone else on this board doesn't have to listen to this "monkey's" ranting....

Sorry Guys... Last post on this one...

Oh, yeah...Bullet... Get a Lightning....

You kill me. lol.
You can be a quips Engineer, only if microswirl is ok with it.
What make me an ahole?
We disagree, and you seem to have taken a childish stance, this is unfortunate. I have a friend who is MSCE, but he does not consider himself an Engineer, they consider themselves System Administrators.

"Oh, yeah...Bullet... Get a Lightning...."
-I am, that was weak-
How about you become a real engineer?

PS: If you want to discuss this further you can email me at sboghe@mediaone.net

maybe i can settle this. only a real engineer would know this:
"when you become an engineer, do you have to buy the blue/white stripped cap, or do they give it to you?"

Cool

One of my favorite "engineer" poems:

The railroad track is miles away, and the day is loud with voices speaking,
Yet there isn't a train goes by day But I hear its whistle shrieking.
All night there isn't a train goes by,
Though the night is still for sleep and dreaming
But I see its cinders red on the sky, And hear its engine steaming.
My heart is warm with the friends I make,
And better friends I'll not be knowing,
Yet there isn't a train I wouldn't take, No matter where it's going.
