Question Just curious....

Just wondering how many of you folks use your L. as your daily driver, and if you do, how is that working out for you?

I do. I don't have to but I feel weird without her, if you can believe that. It's like when you wear a ring on a certain finger for a long time and then you lose it and forget and get that split second panic attack just before you realize it's gone. hehehe I need help....Anyway, she does just as well if not better than any other vehicle I have ever had and I have had her in rain, snow, you name it.

alphadoggy... My wife drives our Lightning daily. She loves it.I've always loved fast vehicles but feared for my loved ones safety. With the Lightning I can have a very fast, large profile vehicle..The best of both worlds!Only problem is I hardly ever get any seat time!

You let her do what?j/k again, man my wife is almost afraid to drive it. She is worried that she might do something too it, then she knows she would be in the dog house!!! When I had the mustang it was the same way, she didnt like all the power it had, plus everyone would try to race her when she drove the stang. She doesnt like to race, so i think she kinda feels the same way about the "L". She also doesnt like drving BIG vehicles, she is used to her little saturn. Sorry to get WAY of the subject of the post, but I will be looking for a daily driver for work in a few months. That 10-12 mpg to work is a waste for my truck. My truck hates being in crowds, she likes being in wide open spaces to run & hunt.

I drive my lightning everyday and on top of that, in the 8 mile trip to work I race at least one person in each direction! I don't drive too much on the weekends so after 6 months I only have 3700 miles, pretty hard miles tho.

I would like to add that I have a late 99.5 lightning (september) and after all the abuse (I'm so hard on this truck, normaly kill everything)
I've never experienced(sp) any other problems that some of the other owners have had? Strange?

I would assume that when a better truck comes out(5 years from now). Just get it and enjoy the lightning every day, don't deprive yourself!

My L is my daily driver unfortunately. I say unfortunately, because I am going to get in trouble with it. For example, last night on the way home from work, a guy in a red Dodge Dakota R/T, sporting a fancy exhaust system, and sounding real good spied me. He decided to give me a demo of his prowess, and stomped on it giving me a demo of 100 mph driving in commuter traffic. There was no room for me to play, so when I got in the clear, I chased him down, and pulled in behind him at a light. When it turned green, he made the fastest left turn I have ever seen. Needless to say, I was stupidly on his butt and closing. Now I had two choices to make him feel bad: 1) Run over him to show him that he could not come close to leaving my L (didn't seem like a reasonable option at the time), or 2) Pass over the double yellow line to get by him and show him what is like to run an L (also not a great option). Unfortunately, I desparately wanted this kill and went for option number 2. Incredibly stupid, unsafe, and unbelievably fun! Had I run into someone like me when I was a motorcycle cop, I would have taken me to jail. Will I ever grow up - I don't think so. Oh BTW, it was no contest - I ate him for dinner.

Thumbs up

I drive mine every day to work. Twenty two miles each way. I wouldn't drive anything else. It's the only time I get to race. My wife gets pissed if I race with her in the truck. The only thing that bothers me is that super unleaded is (best price around Austin)$1.31, and I think we could be looking at $1.50 soon.

I also use mine as a daily driver and have had no problems with the rain or snow.....as long as I drive easy

Hey Jerry J, I WISH our gas was that cheap. I use 92 octane and pay anywhere from $0.72 to $0.78 a litre. For a 94 litre tank that works out to $67-$73 a fill up. This gets me about 400-600km on a tank (depending on how I drive of course).

If you paid $1.50 a gallon, then a 94 litre tank would be about 24.8 gallons......$37.00 a fill up. At $1.30 a gallon it is $32.00. Hmmmm, working all this out is realy starting to depress me Maybe I should get a green card and move south.

BTW, ho far can a full tank get you on the highway ?

Same here. I use it as my daily driver. 30 miles both ways to work. The Probe was relegated to beater status. Figured I would use it for bad weather. Since the L arrived I've driven it maybe 20 times. Usually just for sports so as not to dirty interior. I can't stand not driving the Lightning. It's the ultimate commuting weapon. Same for me in that there always seems to be someone who wants to race. Damn little VW Bug got away from me today in traffic. Couldn't seem to swat him.

40 miles per day round trip to 'n from work, mostly (at least in the morning) stop-and-go. Find myself holding her back at times just so I can go to WOT for a couple seconds and get my morning rush. Sure does make the daily commute a lot less dreary.

Mines a daily driver... only truck/car I own, but when you have a bolt what else do you need? 1.9 miles to work.. so it's not like it's a rough time or anything. 6 months 7 thousand miles, with 2 1000 mile (each) unexpected funeral trips in there...

Mines a daily driver too. I have about 15k miles on it now and it runs great. The only problem is that it seems to be the vehicle we always take, and it gets a little crowded with three of us!
Still Love It Though!!!
