I, too, am sorry for the hard time you`ve had to go through with your baby. What is it they say about making lemonade when life hands you lemons... I say go for the yellow! Or, how about that new Mystic color for the 2000 Cobra? I think someone posted a pic of that not too long ago.

Bill Murray: Go-Mango is the orange Mopar color you`re thinking of, right? Have to love those crazy names.

Well, I for one can't believe they are repairing it, only 2000.00 away on a 1600.00 estimate. There will be supplements that take it higher, but you are handling it very well. What the heck, it is a great opportunity to personalize one of the greatest vehicles since the early 70's. The yellow is a great idea, and BABolt is right about painting it while it's apart. I'm sure your body man knows this, but definately best to paint with the glass out, fenders and bed off etc. It should look fantastic. Shoot, you'll probably have the hottest Lightning out there!! Good thing they provide rental on total thefts. I'll bet that body shop mgr has a big ole woodie just thinking about this job. Get a written guarantee on the work if he has one and good luck!!

I'll admit that Mystic is Tuff. But what do you expect for 250.00 a pint? Yellow would be kinda sweet I think. If you are going to go with the Mystic see what they can do for you with the 2000 Mystic Gold. Like I said. I am currently working out in my head how much I can get for my little brother and if it will be enough to get myself the new Mystic Gold Cobra...I doubt it though...*sigh* Anyhow, yellow is probably the best way to go. I think mystic on a vehicle this big may be a little too much. I saw it on a Z28 today and I don't know if it was the combination of Mystic and the enemy, but I thought it was yucky. I would actually have to see it to know for sure and by then it's too late. Ya know? hehe

Terry,

I would vote for the Mystic. (a little bias) I don't know how many times people have come up to me at gas stations and red lights and asked me WHAT THE HE** KIND OF PAINT JOB IS THAT????? You have to see it in person to really appreciate it.

The lightning has GREAT curves for the mystic to reflect off of. I would also go with the ram air hood.

If mystic isn't available or out of the price range I too think that a yellow L would look awesome.

Good Luck.

Since you probably won't go w/ the ever-beautiful Oxford White, go for the chrome yellow. I'd bet you'd be the envy of almost everyone on the board (almost being the operative word here)! Besides, there's nothing like being 1-in-a-million... I mean 1-in-4000 (or should it be 8750?)

There is a 1997 F-150 color called Moonlight Blue Clearcoat Metalic. It is almost identical to the 1998 Lexus GS-300/400 color Spectra Blue Mica. I think it is an awesome color! The color appears different in different lighting situations, but at regular paint prices!

How are you going to do the bumpers?

I'm glad I don't have GEICO.

Good luck,

adp

The Mystic Gold would look excellent on the Lightning. Have you considered going to DR's as replacement tires? Might as well if your into the 1/4 and then if you don't want to drive them on the street, you can buy street radials that would cost less then getting the street radials now and the drag radials later...H8 2 W8, I don't know if you noticed or not, but in your sig, you made a typo on "MYSTIC", and you typed in "MYTSIC", just thought you wanted to know in case you want to fix it.

I would definitaly look into one of the flip-flop colors like the mystics. I believe several brands make those types of paints and have different colors available.

Hey guys, Sal here. I've seen Lightnings in all three Mystic type colors (Mystic, Mystic Gold, and BASF Rainbow) and personally I felt that it didn't look so good. My problem with it was that the Lightning is so much larger than the Cobra, that it was just TOO much mystic. You lost the entire shape of the truck in the paint. I've had my 95 repainted, and I really wanted flame front end in Rainbow Mystic so that when you were driving down the road, it would look like the flames were "moving"

Hey guys, not trying to put a negative spin on this topic, but I'd be worried sick on what the Geico adjuster has done on this truck.
The pictures I saw , and what was told about the wreck, the vechile rolled several times??
How about the person that was a State Farm rep, what's your opinion?
I'd be more worried about internal Problems, than what color I'd pick for this wrecked truck.
I am glad I don't have GEICO insurance, how about a engine of that magnitude, running while it' s rolling over???
Just an opinion....
Maybe leaving the keys in the tail gate has something to do with it, but I'd start looking around for another insurance co,Geico will drop you like a rock...

Well, I'm the State Farm rep. I have never seen a rollover repaired. We generally total them out. I don't want to stir anything up between the owner and Geico. We have already had a talk, and he seems to be satisfied, which is what counts. The truck did land on it's feet, so I wouldn't be too worried about the motor having any time to run "dry". Heck, the centrifical force probably kept oil down in the pan while she rolled. It all happens so fast. If she had landed upside down and continued to run, hands down total loss.

May want to consider Sal's comments about such a large vehicle painted in Mystic. He has a good point. Fortunately, you don't have to decide today. Take your time.

Sal, that's what I was saying earlier in this post....Too big for that much Mystic, between the cost and the size it would seem like overkill to me. You might recall in an earlier post I have a guy here who does great work with special paint jobs, I have seen several older cars that he has worked on and as a favor he was willing to hook me up with the flames on my hood for under $500.00 in Mystic. I wanted to keep the truck clean, but for $500.00 on a $3000.00 paint job, I was seriously considering it. ASDE, another thing I would consider since we are back to *should you except the repair over the total* I dunno about you guys and maybe this is a yucky thought *sorry*, but I would be very sketch about riding in a vehicle some freak loser stole from me and then bled all over....Sorry for the visual...but a good point you might want to use if you decide to reconsider...maybe just me. Anyhow...I still like the Mystic gold, and for some reason, I can picture a yellow L with black to orange to yellow flames...Anyways, hope ya get it figure out.
