Hey, Whitelightning
When you were at the LA autoshow, did you notice the exhaust exit on the 2000L? Since it is suppose to be rear exit, I was wondering if they had copied the one from the Harley truck or came up with a new design. The Harley system looks like crap (in my opinion), hope they did not butcher the new Lightnings with it. Thanks for any input, can't find any pictures of the new one's anywhere. Web sites claim 2000 pictures, but actually show the 1999.5 model.
The Lightning at the LA auto show had the same exhaust as my '99, and I agree that the Harley exhaust is more like an intake than an exhaust. I wonder if the Lightning show truck was a mock up rather than the real thing.

Thanks, whitelightning. That may have very well been a mocked up 99. It has really been a pain trying to get information on the 2000's. The dealers seem to know less than anyone. Not even a brochure yet. I guess you guys waiting on the 99's were likely in the same boat. The trucks were getting a lot of press then however, the 2000 doesn't even get that. Guess I'm starting to get more impatient the closer the build date gets. I have a need for speed you might say.
Everything I have seen and read indicates that the Y2K L will have the same side exit pipes as the '99. I think the rear exit exhaust was just a rumor started by a report in one of the car mags several months ago.

I read something about the exhaust gases causing corrosion on the right rear wheel. I have not noticed anything on my wheels.

I saw a silver Lightning a coupe of days ago. It looks excellent!!
It had the same exhaust exit as my truck does. The new overhead console looks good in it though. I may have to check into doing the swap
This truck had a single play CD/6 disc changer, towing package and no tonneau. It looks like the Auto lamp feature has bee changed to the fixed delay type, same as what is found in other Y2K f150s. Except for the color keyed mirrors, everything is the same
The last I heard, Y2K owners are still on track for Job 1 week of the 31st...
------------------
99 Lightning, Black, CD
changer, Downey SST tonneau, Class 3 hitch, Ford bed mat, tinted back window, clear headlight/ foglight lenses, Pioneer speakers, Airaid airbox, clear corner lenses (thanks Roger L!) Autometer boost gauge, Bassani headers still contemplated....
DOB: 4-28-99, ordered 12-27-98
Build #694
My one really cool toy..
(except my Mercury Parklane "hobby")
