Interesting about the camaro and firebird. I have only had my lightning for 3 weeks. Only car I have run it against is my six speed 2000 corvette. Vette has an RM racing twin flow intake but is stock otherwise. Lightning is stock. Corvette nails the Lightning pretty bad. Have run both on a G tech pro. Corvette turns a 13.4 @ 114 and Lightning turns a 13.7 @ 104. Both times seem too quick and the speeds too high. Anyone know how accurate the g tech is? I have the psp chip and filter ordered and two turbos to put on. Hope to come close to the corvette then. Any one know were to find the computer codes required for the chip? 99 Lightning no. 3513 2000 corvette Z51 six speed coupe 96 Gmc Z-71 short box reg cab.

Are you Brad's evil twin? the computer code is the same for all 99's, just order the chip from super or sal without code, unless you want a custom setting. the g-tech's times are pretty close, but mph is always high.

The G-Tech measures amazingly well when ran over a good, straight, flat stretch of road. The ET is within a tenth or two of the track (I've ran my GT-Pro on the track), but mph is hopelessly optimistic because of the way it is measured at the track vs by the GT-Pro.

In my experience, subtract about 5% of total mph and you're getting pretty dang close. That would put the Lightning in the 99 mph range and the Vette in the 109 mph range, pretty dang close to what you could expect.

Later!

I outran a z28 camaro ss at the track a couple of months ago i had superchip and psp filter i ran a 8.76 and he ran 8.89 not sure what his speed was mine was 81.6mph in the 1/8th of course. Lightningdammit i believe it was a combination of everything and the extra weight was a huge difference, but you said he pulled when it went into overdrive. always when you get over bout 75 turn od off or it will kill you mine shifts to od about 100 or so but leaving it in drive you can get to 120 or 125 before having to shift. as for nos he did not have it, there is no way you had a full tank of gas (2 tenths), 400 ponds of dead weight(3 tenths)at least and yours was bone stock. no way with all of that if he had nos you would have seen tail lights before yours ever downshifted(figure of speech). any ways keep eating the bowties for breakfast, lunch, supper, and a midnight snack.

Thanks for all the positive posts!

Peter B,
The Formula was one of the newer ones with the bubble headlights. I make it a point to look since I took a Camaro SS a few weeks ago. The Camaro had a scoop, the Formula did not. I think the Camaro had some mods that may have slowed him down on the bottom end. I took him from a dead stop, he was on my rear bumper til about 70-80, then we let up for traffic. The Formula really surprised me tho...

Good kills Wyldman! Good to see we can take the fast ones even w/o N2O! Hey I spelled it right this time N2O Boy!

Hey Rusty, I hope you are right about the weight! We'll see when I get a chance in a few weeks!

Bad Pit,

Did I read that right...twin turbos??? I take it they'd be of the sequential variety. In the Lightning??? But why? And more importantly, how???

You're taking off the SC, right?

Thumbs up

FWIW, I had the opportunity recently to come across an SS Camaro and a ram-air Firehawk. I had both of em, off the line in spite of a nasty looking exhaust on the SS. They started to close at about 80 but I ran door-to-door with them up to 100 when the firehawk backed off. The SS and I continued on to 130 at which point I stepped down. But, with just my chip and filter neither of the cars ever saw past the nose of the bolt.

Talking

There is no way one can say he had nitrous or he didnt. But I must say there are a few people out there who play with others. Its called baiting. Not everyone sprays from the get go. Sometimes its fun to spray right when the other person thinks he has outdone you. just 2 cents worth.
Allright I spelled it right too.
