Question about the bassani exhaust system
I am interested in the bassani complete system, what i want to know before i drop $1800 is this 1) is it worth that much? 2) what are the dyno rear wheel horsepower and torque improvements? 3) how loud is it i dont want nothing that sounds like a darn pulp wood truck? at 60 mph and at taking off on normal driving? 4) none of this voids the warranty does it? 5) last but not least again is it worth the money (1800 is a lot of money it better sound awesome and really improve power?
oh yea does it affect gas mileage?

Rusty,
If you want the lowdown on the system go to bassani.com and get their phone number they are alot of help and will answer any questions you have. I just orderd the full system tonight from sal for my L, can't wait. Everybody i talked to advised getting the headers coated with the hpc. Good luck, Brian

Rusty,
I haven't got the whole setup, but adding the headers lowered the tone at idle to a more bass growl than a rumble. At 2k rpm, the drone is much lower and more pleasant to listen to. At WOT the Black Beast howls like a banshee and it's a contest between the blower and the exhaust to see which can drown out the other.
I haven't had the opportunity to get Beastie dyno'ed yet but the SOTP meter says there is certainly a bit more torque at the low end (completely unexpected, actually thought she would lose some of the bottom end. I guess that's what I get for trying to think.). Throttle response is also improved considerably.
Between the intake mods and the headers, Beastie breaths a whole lot better and seems a lot happier and ready to run when told to.
I hope this helps...

Rusty - The full kit is worth 20 - 30 rwhp and 30 - 40 lb/ft of torque. Bassani has dynoed it and it was actually published in the January 2000 issue of Sport Truck or Truckin'. Talk to Sal at PowerSurge Performance about purchasing the system. If you don't like loud...I would hesitate on the complete system. My ears tend to ring for a little while after my few 10 mile trips. It's nothing like the flowmasters loudness. But as previously stated it has a drone that will definitely remind you that you've got some muscle under the hood. Don't get me wrong...I like the sound...especially in that it overpowers the whinning of the s/c...however at a cruise, it's kind of hard to hear the radio over the drone (rumble)...so I'm thinking my next mod might have to be to the radio, naaaah, I'd rather put my money into hp. I hope this helps and I am working on the pics. I will try to upload them to tripod.com
99 lightning, thanks for tellin me that ahead of time. so its that loud huh? well what piece should i leave out to quieten it down a little? i really dont want to have to have the radio blaring just to be able to hear it. tell you what you know the little lines in the radio volume control? on the digital display you know how it might read 3 1/2 lines in the volume. how bout getting in your truck and set the cruise on 60 and see how many lines it takes before you can hear. if that is too much to ask dont worry bout it i understand. thanks

99Lightning was right on the money with the Jan 2000 issue of truckin' reference. They had an article on the Bassini system and documented a complete install (19 pictures in all). Anyway here's the dyno numbers.
