Question anti-theft system

Hey Guy's
I've been wondering about the anti-theft system on our Lightning's, does anybody know if it can be defeated very easily. I.e. how secure R we, mine is not out of my sight for very long but I sure would feel better if I knew the anti-theft system was hard to defeat. I'm already looking @ ways to keep the L from starting. If anybody has a
good idea I would appreciate.

The Securilock system has a key with a chip that talks to the engine computer. When you start the engine if it doesn't see that code it doesn't allow the engine to run. There are something like 6 or 7 quadrillion combinations to the code. I once read an article that when Ford first introduced it in the European Taurus the first year the only cars that got stolen were towed or put on a rollback, not a single hotwire. If someone is ingenius enough to get around that there probably isn't much that'll stop them.

The Ford system is refered to as PATs (Passive anti-theft system). If you really want to test the system just go lose your key. Yes there is a chip in the key but there is an on-board system too. You can also put one of those noise maker alarm systems on your vehicle too. We all know what those do (hey! there goes another AH's alarm Ha Ha Ha)

I had the Lojack system installed along with the alarm system that goes with it when I bought my truck. One key fob (the Ford one) controls everything and they would have to get past the active alarm (w/ignition kill), and the passive alarm (with ignition kill and the chip in the key/computer) to get her started.

If they don't try to start her, just haul her away, one call to Lojack will activate the system and start screaming electronicly like a wounded banshee. The Black Beast is protected about as well as she can be w/o involving a vault.

That still doesn't mean it's impossible, but they would have to want her real bad to go through that much to steal her.

BTW, I have one other system in place for protection. Can you say "Glock .40"?

Hitman31,

Truly a man after my own heart! LOL

2fast4u,

I am not sure about areas. I would check w/your dealer to see if it is available. They'll probably want sell it to you if it is available.

As to my insurance, yes, there is an additional discount for having the Lojak. With all the protection I have installed in the Beast, they are almost paying me! (j/k, I wish...)

BAS

I thought I was the only one that paranoid about my baby. It's nice to know there are others who share the malady. I even went so far as to install a wireless camera and vcr/monitor looking down on my driveway, situated so I can see both of my babies.

Vern,

Per State Farm when I asked them, no additional insurance discount because of LoJack (that is, none above and beyond the tiny discount they already give for the stock PATS sys).

Unfortunately, Utah does not look like it is currently within the LoJack service area, so that leaves SLC without this option. For more info on LoJack, including its service areas, check out: http://www.lojack.com/ .

Chuck,

I'll see your .40 (my little bro packs the compact version and loves it) and raise you a .45 Model 21. Great pieces, aren't they!

Mike,

I'll see your model 21 and raise you a model 30 compact (always loaded w/10 .45 Hydrashocks). My .40 is a model 26 compact.

One day we need to get together and compare notes on our ordnance.

Chuck,

I like the full-size mod 21 (13 rounds, alternating every other rnd between HydraShok and homemade "ashtrays") better because if (when) you run out of bullets, you can always throw the thing at 'em and do some damage.

BAS,

When you get your wheels back, you can sell me two of those ugly steel wheels so I can mount some drag radials on 'em. Nobody wants to get off the dime and make 'em in 18".

Mike,

I like those Speer 200 gr jacketed hollow points alot. Superior mess making ability. Two of those pills will cure anything, permanently
