anti-theft system
I'm sure everybody knows this, but you can negociate the price of a LoJack system the same as you can haggle over the price of a dealer installed bed liner or an extended warranty. My Ford dealer told me that his margin on the basic LoJack setup is between $150 and $200. He gave me a $150 discount (after I asked for it). The local LoJack distributor then came out to my house and installed the unit in my garage a few days after I picked up the truck. Took him about 45 minutes.
2000Silver,
Once you get used to Glock's two-stage trigger, it becomes a very easy gun to shoot accurately. I also like my wife's "kitchen protector", as she calls it. It's a stainless 9mm Sig P225 with an action as smooth as the finish on my A.R.E. hard lid.

you are all talking about security but it seems you have over looked the obvious. A simple aftermarket alamr system such as an alpine or clifford. Add a proximity sensor so when someone steps within a foot to your baby the alarm will chirp and lights will flash. They stay there longer the alarm goes off (all can be adjusted to different sensitivity settings)
Ordnance eh ? Now we are talking something i can at least hold my own on! In the Glock 17(3lb. trigger pull) hydra-shocks,147 grain in 3 hi-cap mags. The Sig(229) 165 grain hydra-shok's or Triton "Quik-shok's"(135 grain), The HK(compact usp 45) 230 grain hy-shoks as well.Though I do have some Black T@lons lying around in .45 too. All carry rounds get a bit of a teflon coating...just in case.

Floyd91,
When I bought the Black Beast, I heard from several sources that after market alarm systems were problematic in the Lightnings. One issue was the interferance they could have with the passive system. Another was power issues, apparently the L's electronics go to "sleep" after about a 1/2 hour or so, affecting the alarm's power sources.
One thing I would like to stress: Lojack does not prevent theft, it merely facilitates recovery in the event of theft.
Living as close to the border as I do, that is my only hope if the Beast is ever stolen, otherwise it will wind up in Mexico, cut up for parts or sold to a drug lord for running dope.

Chuck,
Your drug lord reference made me think of the old Miami Vice TV show. If it were filmed today, maybe Sonny (Don Johnson) would be racing around Miami in a red Lightning instead of his Ferrari. Well, just a thought. Time to go back to sleep now.

wyldman- most alarm manufacturers offer a backup battery for the alarm, so basically when the "sleep" kicks in the alarm will not shut off instead it will run off of the backup battery. I have talked to the local stereo guys about the alpine alarms and they seem to think it will work 100%
damit wylde man i love your truck....i am so jealous.....hope to get one soon......u lucky son of a biscuit!

If you're worried about the factory electronics kicking off after 30 minutes just make sure the installer of an alarm hooks the alarm directly to the battery (with a fuse of course). Thats how mines done..
