London Calling - UK Lighting Owners

Hi Guys.

We seem to have few of the UK based Lightning owners on here from time to time and there are a lot of 2nd Gen Lightings over here and a fair number of Harleys.

I know of at least six in my area which is Guildford near Surrey.

Hows about we all post here and see who we have, what we own and where we are located.

Could be usefull to find out and swap info and maybe help each other out.

I have been to the States recently and have gained some very usefull contacts and information from such a short visit.

So I will kick off.............

Location: Guildford, Surrey.
Club: Surrey Muscle
2003 built Lightning 1st Registered in UK Jan 2004
Red with chrome 20" AR 7 spoke & 40 profile goodyears
A few extras however blown motor now awaiting built long block.
(it was only a matter of time)
plus a shed load of other modifications which I will list when ready to roll.

Currently stripped in workshop and awaiting a large crate of goodies.
(Yes of you read this Jim you guys have been the light at the end of the tunnel)

Can be contacted at Rickif150@aol.com

Welcome,
There was actaully a guy from England at Fords at Englishtown in NJ a couple of weeks ago. He flew over to watch a couple of our events and talk to other owners. He had a red Gen2 and I think he said hes a member of a club there.
He was saying the price of fuel is pretty high, though the truck is great on some of your back roads and hes only about an hour from the track.
take care

:
I have a black 2004 Lightning, manufactured Nov 2003 I think. It has been sat at a dealer for most of its life, as it was first registered on the road in the UK on 17th August 2005.

I bought it second hand 3 weeks later with 500 miles on it. Aparently the first owner didn't quite expect the fuel bills! Prat! hehehe

So today it is stock (until I go Florida in 3 weeks!!), with only 1800 miles on it.

Oh yes, and I live well up North, 10 miles inland of Blackpool.

Cheers

That was me

Two of us made the trip, the other guy was George from Birmingham.
We had a great trip and everyone made us welcome - just a shame the NJ weather was shoite.

BTW just got my old block apart tonight and the sumpwas full of roads and pistons - the only V5 lightning as three pistons and rods where in the pan and i drove home for 3 miles like that.

When I blows the block i does it propper no half measures.

Whats goin on man, rounding up the UK L guy's hey. Glad to see you here so much Should have your shipment on the way shortly, you may be the fastest Gen 2 L on your side of the Atlantic soon! Id like to make a trip out there one day. Maybe convince my Dad Im sure he'd like to visit there again. Get some dyno time while were there too, learn your fuel qualities. Hello,

Great post.

I have a black 2004 Lightning and I'm based in West Kent. No prizes for guessing my name!

Truck was bought bone stock, but I have since modified it with a 4lb pulley, JLP CAI, C&L intake tube, Predator, IT-22s, line-lock, VB, 4x4 transmission pan and JLP traction bars....Oh, and some very bald F1s! I've also invested in some 28" Hoosiers and some 16" AR Bajas

Ran a 13.4 stock back in February, but have not had the opportunity for a decent run since fitting the pulley, slicks etc.

I know of a chap called Mike with a black Lightning, based in East Sussex, and a guy called Danny, who has a 2004 red L and is based within spitting distance of Santa Pod. Great chap (his truck has been featured in American Car World and Performance Ford - he's a bit of a media *****!)

Currently on the lookout for some 20s. Thinking of AR Torq-thrusts but would like to know where wheels to suit our trucks can be bought in the UK.

Am in two minds about keeping the truck at the moment. If I do, I can see a built motor in my future...

Would be good to meet you guys.

Er, did you want the UK Harley owners to join in too?
Not quite clear on that.

The more the better including Harleys

Hi Guys

Keep the posting coming in and we can see where and how many we have.
I met Danny at the Mopars and have looked at his ACW review.

Harleys welcome too as they are great truck with a well nice cab and a bit more room for other passengers plus abit of posh leather.

Love the final item on you L Sonic "1 unamused wife"

Should have seen the look I got coming home on five cylinders a few weeks ago from er indoors, the truck looked ready for November 5th with all the smoke but I still got her home even on five intact rods.
Thinking of entering the sump for a "Turner Prize" as it looks quite random with all the bits in the bottom

Will post a few photos when I have workied out the link

feel free to e-mail me the VIN# and I'll find out for you... they don't normally include the certificates with the purchase of the truck... they mail them out after the production run is completed.

Scott,

What do you think of your eiback lowering kit on our roads?

Those springs have received a HUGE amount of abuse on here. I was about to buy them, but am now scared to!

Hi mate, well i only finished fitting it yesterday so i havent realy had chance to give it a lot of stick yet.
First impression is that it looks really nice now all levelled out and it feels a little more stable, possibly because of the drop?
Must admit i am a little concerned with the fact that the rear leafs are standard rate so may be a tad on the soft side, but the front feels better.
Once i have give it a good thrash later this week i will let you know more.
I was gonna go for the Hotchkis set up but for some reason Mark at LFP wont deal with me anymore,so i didnt bother.
I got these through Danny at HAUSER racing,he has em on his L and the price is pretty good compared to the Hotchkis, about £360.
The problem we have over here is that there isnt enough people with Lightnings(particularly lowered ones) to find out peoples thoughts.
If i cant get with them ill go for the Hotchkis next year.

Oh and thanks Jerzey i will email you with my vin
