The gas conversion cost £2700 and took about two dozen trips back to the garage where fitted before they got it right! This was due to the fact that they had never converted anything so powerful before and had to get the tune right as i fried quite a few plugs along the way.
I haven't dynoed with the lpg but power difference is hardly noticeable, i was getting 15mpg on petrol and now get 13mpg on gas.
It's an italian system and the guys at Autogas U.K. reckon i have the fastest lpg vehicle in the land woo hoo!

Adam,

I'd be very interested to hear more about that dyno day. I had the truck on a dyno dynamics a few months ago and she was pig rich (richer than 10:1 from 4.7krpm up). I now have a different tune in there, and it would be great to know how she's doing.

BTW, I think I may have seen your truck up at Santa Pod a while ago (probably May 2004?). Do you have a very nicely detailed underhood with some orange pipework?

Cheers,

Joel

No, that wasn't me. Sorry.

The dyno day is being arranged with UK members of the National Harley Davidson Truck Owners Club.

Check out the UK forum on www.nhtoc.com or with me on Rebel at www.rebel-v8.com

We would love to have some Lightnings along for the company.

I think it would be cool if all the UK peeps could get together for some of the shows next year.

Hi Scott,

Not too sure about the front lowering springs, it makes to front end a bit soft and the gain in lowering offset by the Caddilac feel of the front end.
Have lowered back by 2" and intend to lower the front rear spring mounts as well to include fitting Metco bars at the same time.
Re-locate battery to mid ships and shed spare wheel & carrier.
Keep basic tow hitch for tax reasons.
I am going to look into lowering the front with offset hub kit when I can find one, plus the addition of some decent brakes maybe Wilwood and some bigger rotors as the basic braking is very prone to fade.

I will return to my stock springs at the same time.
Some guys take off the front sway bar / anti roll bar but I tried that and after about 4 miles put it straight back on.

So lowering, brakes then shocks after I have done the engine & trans swop.

All makes for a busy winter.

Hey guys,

i gotta '03 HD in black. A few mods so far, Predator tune, JLP forced air kit, Thunderpipe and soon a #8 Pulley. Fitting a bedrug, third rear seat and Line o fire rear brake light.

The dyno day is on the 19th Nov in Bromsgrove. Chip Tuning have a decent dyno that will easily handle our trucks and they are also a UK distributor and stockist of the Diablosport Predator tuner. They have quoted £300 for 6 trucks so we could get a better deal with a few more. They have said they could lay on food if we want or there are a few pubs nearby to retreat to for a chinwag.

ps. The black HD with Bling was Rob from the US. He is now stationed back in the US and took his truck with him....Flatout Krazy is his name on NHTOC.
pps. For a decent company for wheels for the truck try Blingrims. They are in Reading and can get any US rims for you. They are the sole dealer in the Uk for Intro rims. www.blingrims.com

Cheers

KevF

Lightning newbie here.
Stock red 2000 at the moment but have drop spindles and rear shackle kit on their way from Summit Racing. Will let you know how the install goes when it's all done.
Would like 20" rims as well so any pointers to reputable suppliers over here would be welcome.

Should I get a Predator? Do they make a noticeable difference?

Hope to see you around

Paul

That would be me, I've been on this board since 2001, in California and now back in the UK

This seems like a good time to add - the service engine light is staying on, can anyone recommend a garage around the South-East (preferably nearer to Sussex than Mildenhall...) with the diagnostic equipment? I also have one recall to get seen to, and am not far off needed a 30,000 service

Cheers
Mike

ps: Joel - I'm sure I must have seen you around TWells recently, unless there is another black L in town

It might be worth you having a look through some of the ads in American Car World or try American Automotive, Brigstock Road, Thornton Heath located near Crystall Pallace ground. If you ring ask for Tony Granston he may be able to help.

Not sure about the recall work though.

Good Hunting

Ricki
