Rim widening

Rim widening
I did a search on the subject but my over all question i couldn't find an answer....can this be done to a chrome rim without messing up the chrome face?????? i would really like to get my rims widen'd to about 10-10.5 (they are 8.5 now) any one that has done this please chime in on how it went for you and who you used. thanx in adavance
