I understand what you mean Tim, and I agree partially. A completely enclosed ram air systen is what some guys seem to want. The opening in the fender would defeat the purpose and lose the pressurised air through the opening.

Damned if you do and Damned if you don't! This is a pet project of mine and I want to make it as good as possible.

My tests have shown only a 8 degree F drop in IAT temps at idle with the fender inlet being used to force air into the end of the filter. Granted, the top of the air box was still open but we were forcing air through the fender inlet at 138 CFM. This tells me that the air from the inner fender isn't as cool as some might think.

The next test will double that CFM and the top will be closed off with a plexiglass panel underneath that will fit the contour of the box top, and the forced air will come from beyond the inner fender and well away from the engine compartment.

My goal is to create positive pressure inside the box from idle to WOT and have the IAT temps as close to ambient as possible with the end of the filter box still open.

*EDIT* Oh yeah, congrats on the new Race Deck flooring, it's hot!! I really like the way you used the colors!

Tim

We cut, formed, and installed a plexiglass inner-top section on our filter box today. The Auto Tap showed a 22 degree reduction in IAT temperature at idle. The road test (I'm sure) will show a dramatic drop in temps. I'll get to it tomorrow.

Looks nice too!

Damn Tim... As always, you do the best research and produce the highest quality items... I would love a plexiglass piece to seal it off and reduce temps... One week from today and I will have one on the way...

Tim,

Is the "Plexiglas inner-top section" an item that will be available for purchase with this kit? If so, any idea on price for the extra piece? Thanks...

Yes, it'll be part of the kit, at a minimal extra cost, at the most $20 each. This is one part that doesn't cost all that much to produce since we already have the forming tools.

Thanks,

Tim

I bet that scoop could be adapted. If I was you, I might call Tim directly... If I was me, (I am me right?) I still might call Tim directly...

So I am safe in saying that the fender opening will still be there?
