Cool Superchip School!!!!!!

Well I know most of you guys are pretty blase by now having run your chips, etc., for some time. Conversely, I'm like a kid in a candy store having just returned from Superchips for my factory installation. INCREDIBLE!!!!! I've taken my new toy to school for the last hour allowing it to feel (on many ocassions) the sensation of being over 100 MPH, and over the red line. The throttle and boost response is incredible between the chip and the Airaid box. I am amazed how this beast his still howling and pulling indredibly strongly at 115 MPH. I need for someone to take me to school now. Previously, I could get the L rolling, go to WOT, and I would be off and running with no loss of traction. Now, I can't seem to find a way to get the tires from not burning. I get it rolling, go to WOT, and throw about a weeks worth of tread off of the Z1's. From a rolling start, I'm going to have some serious kills. From a dead stop, I'm a bit at a loss. BTW, for you Superchip owners, the last mod to the chip was about 3 or 4 weeks ago to increase the firmness of the shifts. This baby shifts the way I would have liked to have been able to shift the 6 speed on my Trans Am. It takes it to about 5300 rpm, and bang - no more slushy shifts. I have experienced not even one ping - I know some have in the early learning process of the chip. Obviously, I am thrilled with my installations of the last two days. BTW, if the other chips available are better than this one, they must come with a set of headers as standard equipment. YES!!!!!!

Dear Sandy,

I'm glad you like your Superchip and Airaid kit! You're absolutely right in that traction off the line becomes a bit, shall we say, "problematic". The stock Lightnings will usually burn maybe 10 feet of rubber hook up and launch. With the Superchip, it will haze the tires for a good 50-60 ft., and that's not counting the Airaid kit in, so you do need to adjust your starting line technique a bit. Those are *good* problems, though.

Have fun, & be careful!

mike, can the superchip be reburned locally by a superchip dealer to include latest shifting mods, or must it go back to Fla.

Mike:

Thanks so much for how quickly and efficiently you made this happen for me. It is a pleasure to deal with an accommodating, knowledgeable, and importantly to me, AVAILABLE, professional.

Superchips was expecting me. The installation was quick and efficent. Then I was given a tutorial by a member of the staff. Unfortunately, they would not install the switch - they won't drill holes.

I know that the incredible torque is a wonderful problem, but I can't quite figure out how to come off the line anymore. I'm going to have to run slicks to work. (-:

Thanks again. It was an absolute pleasure dealing with you and Roger Lemere.

I can't believe guys are endlessly waiting for service from other vendors. You and Roger took me from zero to "chipped" and "airboxed" up within days of our first contacts.

Look out Mustangs! I'm looking for you (of course as long as we don't have to go off the line).

Sandy , Do you have a phone# for superchips here in Orlando? All this talk has suddenly made me want to spend money! Did they set up your chip custom or just a standard Lightning chip? Can you post a pic of your filter kit , or can I meet you somewhere to see it ? You can email me @ dv8ing@aol.com Thanks alot!

Hey skydive,

I am glad that you are happy with your Airaid and SC, I personally have an early Superchip and Sal's filter. I run the chip in stock position because it pings in #1, but I don't mind #2 because the filter makes it run like scalded monkey.

As for Sal, and I know we already addressed this a few weeks ago, he does have a full time job during the day so patience with him is a virtue. Many others have said that he still should do better if he plans to be in business for himself someday permanently. But I truly believe he is doing the best he can under the circumstances. He is not a robot that sits at his desk all day waiting for someone to call him and order one of his products so he can simply call his distributor and have them ship it to you. He actually has to make the product to his specifications, box it and make sure it gets shipped. That is alot to do when you also have another job.

If you want to order other products that is fine, but please don't endlessly rag on Sal, we all like him here. Thanks!

Collin

Hey All...

I didn't mean to rag on Sal... I've read a lot of posts concerning the filters....

I like the open ended design, and I like the prefilter.

I WANT ONE FROM SAL! I'm willing to wait...

I was just thinking someone else on the board might be able to contact him. I was kind of wondering... since the phone co. message takes me back to the wrong area code, if the phone co. has screwed something up.

Hi Tom:

We can probably arrange to meet it you like. I will post a picture of the Airaid box if I can get off my butt and get my digital camera out, etc. Superchips # is 407-260-9106, however I purchased it directly from Mike Troyer, 540-862-9515. Mike is the national distributor for Superchips, and is incredibly knowledgeable, and a pleasure to deal with. He gave me the user group price which is $100 under the local dealers, and arranged for factory (free) installation on my chosen day and time. The local Superchip dealer wanted $45 for the installation. You can't go wrong with the Superchip, and if you have a question or problem there is actually a live body to speak with. AAMOF, 2 live bodies - Superchips themselves or Mike Troyer. I can't imagine having an L without a chip now. What a different vehicle!
