this goes along with a simlar questioned i have always had.... is Michael Jackson black or white?!?! Is born black always black even though it has had some heavy duty "bolt-ons", same as born and L always an L with some mods?

why not just take a blown up 99L..... $9-$14k
.....slap a 700 cu inch carb'd Big Block Chevy in it, with NOS..... +$10-$12k
.....put on some big slicks, trans, rear etc....... +$3-$5k
Lay down some 8.9s --9.2s, and say " I have the fastest GenII Lightning!"
Now does that make sense????? Is that a GenII Lightning in your eyes?

needs to be at least configured like a production Lightning.

Yes in my eyes. It'd be the fastest GenII L with a Chevy engine, but still a Lightning.
Lightning isn't a title like Miss America that can be taken away for posing in Playboy. Lightning is the model of the truck... What it was born as in other words. Doesn't matter what you do to it, it's still a Lightning.
To be honest I really never understood this "not a Lightning" thing. Doesn't happen in other car circles. Seen Corvettes with Grand National engines installed and no one ever said it wasn't a Corvette. I've even seen Mustang with LS1s and no one said it wasn't a Mustang. A Lightning though you can change the suspension and people say it's not a Lightning... like putting a 4-link on a Lightning suddenly makes it a Civic or something

Not this again.............Everybody on this forum either has a stock lightning or a modified lightning....END OF STORY. Stock meaning stock....NO aftermarket parts. After an air kit, it's modified.......Let it go.............
