Exclamation

Lets just say that I now realize how horrible those goodyears really are. I havent even tried out the full adhesion limits of the new shoes because they scare me. Before, the goodyears would go into a four-wheel drift on extreme corners. These dont. They just hang on like a pit-bull. This means of course that body roll is now much more noticeable.
Yesterday I decided to run through some twisties marked 25mph. I normally get through them at about 45-50 mph max before the truck starts to get too loose. I was running through them with the new tires at 65 mph and they didnt even start to complain. I dont doubt I could have gotten up to 70-75 without problems but seeing the speedo at 65 in a 25 forced prudence to kick in I slowed down. I cant wait for an autocross to really try them out. More to follow ...

I figured I've have to spill the beans on my new treads eventually. (oh well, there goes my edge.) I was hopin to spank wyldman a time or two before disclosing the secret weapon. They are Bridgestone S-02 Potenza pole positions ($360 at tire rack)

Cool

Nathan -

What did you do with your old skins and how well do you expect the new ones to wear? The basic rule of thumb is softer compound, better grip, shorter wear.

I have replaced my tires recently but I think you might have been looking for someone else. I did have good luck with the tire rack, but I dont know what their price on the Goodyears would be (I went with a different brand).

the bridges-02's came with 17" option on my GS. have 18k on them now, will probably make it to 40k (with my wife driving) i thought they were expensive at 250ea, but the car w/those tires, rides like it's on rails.

Thumbs up

I have to agree about the Potenza S02's. Baddest tire ever made in my opinion.I used them on my old Z28. I tried Goodyear GSC's, BFGoodrich Comp TA ZR's, Pirelli, you name it. At the time all I could get were 245/45 instead of the wider 245/50(didn't make them yet). The 245/45 had a shorter sidewall and were @ 1 inch skinnier. But they were bad as hell. Nothing compares, and the tread pattern is cool. I know some people don't like Firestone-but they are the same company. Even sell a version of the S02's under the Firestone name with a minor difference in the tread appearance. If you can afford them-GET THEM! If only the best will do, these are it.
