Air intake and computer

I have a virgin 2003 Lightning with about 1200 miles on it and I want to start modifying it. The first thing I would like to do is help it breath better so I will be getting a cold air intake, possibly a plenum and larger single blade throttle body. If I do these mods will I need to change my stock computer settings? I know that I will greatly benefit from changing the stock tune but is it absolutely necessary with these mods?

If you do a Cold Air Intake, you do not need to change the stock tune from the factory. I would not waste your money on a Single Blade Throttle Body until you reach much higher HP Levels.

Typically - Dyno Tune ( Chip, Tuner, etc. ), Cold Air Intake, and a 4 Lb Lower Pulley is the ticket. Use the Search button, do a lot of reading on what parts make power and what parts are a waste of money.

Congrats on the truck

"SHOCKED" gave you real good advice; do a search on what you're interested in doing. It's take you some time, but you'll find out a lot of info from experienced guys who did all these things years ago - on what seemed to work, didnt work - and what a lot of us spent a lot of money and time doing - and what we found we got for it. That way you can make an "informed" decision on what you want to spend your money on.

If your a newbie and want to add some mods, I would reccommed adding the Power Package from LFP which includes a Quick Change Lower Pulley Kit, NGKTR6 Spark Plugs, 160 T-Stat, & a Custom Tuned SCT Xcal2 or a DiabloSport Tuner. This is the best bang for your buck, in addition to the 12'' Powerstack Cold Air Intake.

In the future when you begin to add parts that warrant an updated tune on your Xcal Tuner, LFP will send one to you free of charge.
