Question About My PSP Chip For Sal
Hey Sal,
I've got a question about my chip that I have ordered from you. I only use my chip on occasion. I normally use the stock program for normal driving. However, when I use the performance mode, after I get out of the truck, I notice a strange odor coming from the truck. It smells like a new exhaust system burning in when its new. Now, I have updated to dual Flowmasters, but that was some time ago and I don't get this smell when running on the stock program, just on performance. Is this anything to be concerned about?
Also, I am getting a rattle like when you run bad gas or the timing is too far advanced when I step on the gas when in performance mode. Could the timing be too far advanced in performance mode for my particular Lightning? It seems to come and go, but I get my gas from the same source. We have a tank out at the house. Any suggestions?
I love the air filter and outerwear kit. I love the extra blower whine that I get and also the extra power. The chip adds a lot of power too, but I just want to make sure I'm not damaging anything before I run it more frequently.
Thanks again,
Robby Wilson

Hey Rob I dont have a chip or filter kit yet but when I changed to duel Flowmasters I also got the burnt paint smell any time I got on my truck. Look at your mufflers I bet they are discolored like mine. The cats must get really hot when getting on the truck causing the paint to get hot on the flowmasters. It will go away after a few times heavy in the throttle. Scott

I got a note from Sal over the holidays so I thought I'd pass on the update:
Hey Nathan, Sal here. I;m on my laptop on my brothers phone line. I was going
to send the kits out last week, but when they came back from the
powdercoaters, they were coated way too heavy and looked horrible. I refuse
to send them out like that, so he's redoing them for me and promised me I
will have them back this coming week. I will ship it out as soon as I get
them back. I cannot get the F-150 board on this computer, so please let
everyone know on F-150 online that I am still here and hope to have my new
phone line soon. Have a happy holiday!!

Thanks for the Sal update, Nathan. Although I ordered a PSP chip and air filter kit way back on 12/2, I don't mind the wait too much because I know it'll be right when I get it. Plus, I'll get an extra month of "normal" wear out of my rear tires.

If you ever get an answer to this thread, I would be very interested. Sal seems to have great products, and seems to be very responsive. My concerns are his recent fallng of the ends of the earth - for whatever reason. When you are in business you are in business, and need to keep in the loop with customers and potential customers. Also his delivery time is less than adequate.

I'm SURE that you have never been unavailable at any point of time! It seems that Sal gave enough notice and told the situation he was in.
It seems that the people that have been around for a while know Sal and appreciate his knowledge of our trucks and can tolerate his absence for a while.

Change your user name when you have to come back and ask Sal's opinion about your truck. sometimes he's the only one who know's or can find out. ford, svt, dealers, are as usless as, well you know.

Gee sorry guys, we have guys screaming for help, but I guess popularity is the issue. Another guy comes on asking about his chip that was supposed to be long since sent. Another is concerned that he is going to harm his engine running in performance mode. Another has been waiting since 12-2 thinking he would have it before Christmas. I guess as long as one announces that they are closing down in advance all is okay. Let's end this thread - I expect more out of vendors than some others apparently. Again, if you sell high tech products online, one should be able to find a way to accomodate customers unless you find your self in a hospital bed. I guess I just don't understand - or perhaps you don't.

sandy,
lightning equals waiting,
we all waited for our trucks
we all waited for our chips
we waited for our air filters
we are all waiting for our pulleys/etc
i don't know if there has ever been so much available for 4000 vehicles. when you buy a specialized vehicle, you have to expect this. i always seem to buy one, and this is nothing new.
but you are lucky, you don't have to deal with Sal. you can cancel w/him and call superchip or downs or a lot of other people that can air ship you what you want.

I can't believe the tension on this thread!! I do not know Sal personally but I do get the impression that he has a full time job at either Ford or at one of the dealerships. If my assumption is true, PSP is sort of a side-line for him. With that in mind, his business seems to be growing considerably since Gen2 lightning hit the street. I agree that it's nice to be able to have full contact with your supplier, but in this case patience maybe the rule here. I do not say this to be a cheer leader for Sal or any one else, but since I have been watching this board, I have seen nothing but professionalism from Sal on his advice and his product.
Just my 2 cents worth
Happy New Year!!
