Question About My PSP Chip For Sal
MrBBQMAN:
I understand waiting, and the tension break is appreciated. I think I will go fishing - we have incredible bass fishing here in central Florida. And for Mr. BadASS, yes I will be jumping out of a plane this Sunday.
Also, please know that I understand what an incredible resource Sal has been to this group. Being in business however, I have strong opinions as to how one should be conducted (but will save those opinions for another forum).
Anyway, life is great, and my Lightning is the most fun vehicle that I have ever owned, and I have owned a stable of interesting vehicles commencing with my first one in 1955. It puts my last two to shame: A Z28 Camaro and a Pontiac Trans AM. Now about Sal....No only kidding. Relax guys!

Some of you know me as the HobbyTown owner that has provided a fair number of RC Lightnings to board members, a few plastic kits of Lightnings and maybe in the future some of the die cast models.
Like Sal and a few others, I have an imperfect track record. Selling items to members of this board is a sort of labor of love, and is not a "normal" part of what I do at HobbyTown. I own a Lightning, I enjoy it and the companionship I find here. As I own a hobby shop, I have access to Lightning related items that are of interest to board members and offered to try to supply some of those items to you folks. Frankly, I don't make any money at it, and that is absolutely not a complaint. It is a fun thing I do to help support the enthusiasm I have for my truck.
Sal is in the same boat, I believe. He owns a Lightning, actually, I think, both a first and second generation version. He also works full time as a Ford technician, which has got to be at least 40 hours a week if not more and has to do his dyno testing, strip runs and research on his own time as well as negotiating with suppliers and getting stuff shipped out.
In no way am I trying to cry on your collective shoulders, but 99% of my stuff is done as tonight, on my PC at 8:30PM, just as Sal's stuff is done after an 8-10 hour day at what we do to put bread on the table.
We are not Summit, nor Downs Ford nor SVT, but we do really try to do our best to fill in some gaps and provide some interesting alternative items to enrich your "Lightning Lives".
As an example, I waited for some weeks for Sal's chip, the filter and the Bassani exhaust. I really wasn't concerned as I knew that they would arrive eventually. Funny thing, now I have all three and not enough time to install them until after New Years. And.......I am sure the dyno I use is probably not Y2K compliant!!!!!!
Give us "casual" suppliers a chance, and I think you will do okay.

Bill your point is well taken. I guess I will never get over being a type A personality. I expect everything to happen yesterday. (-:
Oldgrnbean: There are some real hawgs that hang out in that big 'ol lake. I have always fished the lakes around Orlando. I used to live on Lake Dora, and I could catch two good size bass within 20 minutes virtually every day off my back yard dock. Almost as fun as driving my Lightning - but not quite.

he let everybody know on previous thread that he was going to be out for a few weeks!he has also gone out of his way to dial in from time to time. si i bekieve he is doing all he van.HE HAD HIS OWN TOPIC FOR EVERYBODY TO SEE .if everybody in the "loop" was listning he said he was going to be out for a while.
Well, this is all true, but I say again: You are either in business or you are not. Sal might be the greatest guy in the world with the greatest products, but when you are in business you have to be available. I would be a bit discouraged if I had waited for a month for delivery of my products, had a problem, and there was no one home for support. Think about it.......hmmmmmmmm. Furthermore, for dealing with a high tech product like a chip, I would think one could figure out how to get online and check one's email. I emailed him a week and a half ago, and called last week leaving an 800 number so he could call back on my dime. You can blindly worship whomever you like, but I have to be shown.

well, never seen that hapen b4. Very well put Bill, yes this is a side business for Sal, & we are reapping the benfits of it. I had to wait 3 weeks for my airfilter kit to come in. I had also expected it like 3 days after I orderd it, but found out would be 3 weeks. Oh well, it wasnt like a life or death situation. I am really gald I did wait also, Sal is a wealth of info to tap into & I will support him 100%!!! Trust me when you get your stuff you wil be very satisfied. (remember its not like he wanted this to happen, if he had his way he would be on here everyday!)

Hey guys, Sal here. Just got a chance to hop on my brothers phone line again to try to catch up. First of all, let me explain a few things. It is true that I am a Ford tech and work a full time job doing so. Then I come home and work until 10 or 11pm nightly and conduct PSP business. My weekends are also spend doing PSP stuff. I work very hard and I am really trying to turn my PSP buisness into my only job. It's not easy as anyone can imagine, but I realy enjoy the satisfaction of making great products, and having smiling customers. But like any business, I am at the mercy of my suppliers. Sometimes the filters I use are backordered, but they are superior to readily avaiable K&N filters. Sometimes the prefilters are backordered, but I'm the only one offering them as an option. Sometimes the intake tubes come back with powdercoating that doesn't meet my standards, so they get re-done. I always put quality first, and never sacrifce it. I'd rather have a customer wait for a superior part and have smile on his face when he gets it, that send out a piece of junk in a day, and he has to live with it. If someone doesn't want to wait, by all means buy another product, I understand. Even my customers that have waited long ship times for whatever reasons, raved about the product and customer satisfaction is my main concern. My chip burner recently crapped out, so I couldn't do chips for a few weeks, but now I have a back up one, so that shouldn't happen agian. This business supports itself, so as it grows, I can improve it so some of these problems won't occur. I'm not making any excuses for myself, I'm just trying to explain to those who don't know the whole story. And for those who are awaiting products, 20 filter kits are being shipped on Monday, and if Dennis is reading, your chip is going out as well. I hope to be back full time soon, the estimated date for my new line is Jan 5.
