his #'s 313rwhp, 327rwtq!! Hope this is what you were looking for.
BTW is is a stupid kill, but last night on the way home was on Scottsdale Rd going home when I notice a car whipping through trafffic aways behind me. About a min later the guy goes flyin by me, only to get stuck @ the next light 100' ft away from us. I notice it is an older Mercedes, that has been lowered & with an aftermarket exhaust that is pretty damn loud. Well as I pull up tp the light I trun to my wife a said "watch me just waist this guys a$$!" as the light turns green I feathered (as to not get wheel spin, I should have given it more though) we went through the intersection @ the same speed but as soon as I hit second the front of his car was at my bed, by the time I hit 80 (shut down) he was a good 2 car lenghts behind me. He just went whizzing right by me. Oh well chaulk up another one for the Black Bolt
. Cant wait to race smoething worthy! Hope you enjoyed play by play acion

To give you an actual answer: '93-97 were LT1 camaros ranging from 275-285 hp and 305 on the SS They all have the 4 square headlights '98-00 are the LS1's, conservatively rated at 305 hp for Z's and 320-330 hp for the SS's. Actual hp ratings are all between 330 and 35 Check my signature and account for the 15% loss through the tranny to caompare numbers.

Yoda,
The question was asked in my post 1st run with LS1. someone asked how you could tell the difference between LS1 powered f-bodies and LT1 powered f-bodies.
Of course now that the initial rush of finally getting to race a Z28 is gone, I really can't be certain it was an LS1.
If it was an LT1 then a stock Lightning has no chance of beating an LS1 off the line, because we were dead even.

David,
It was I that asked about how one can tell the diff between and LT1 and LS1 F-body. I've have do some homework on these cars, but in reading today the December issue of Motor Trend I found some interesting info. In the write up they tested the Camaro SS, in SS form it is a 320 hp LS1, in Z28 form they say it is a 305 hp LS1. According to the testing the SS ran a 13.7 and the 2000 Lightning run a flat 14.0, but what I found very interesting was the they claim the Mustang GT also runs a flat 14.0. My experience at my local track is that even the SVT Cobra doesn't run that good, but the Lightnings run right on par with the magazine time, so something doesn't seem right to me. Heres a little data from my 96 LT1 vette in bone stock form on an 80 degree night I ran a 14.154 at 97.97 mph, the 60' was 2.136. I think the LT1 powered F-bodies run about 3-4 tenths slower than that in the quarter. Sounds to me like you definitely ran LS1 powered F-body. Now was it a Z28 or an SS?

I've seen a '99 GT run a 13.7@103 completely stock except for having the air filter removed. I've also seen a '98 M6 Z28 run a 13.0@107 completely stock. Of course I've seen plenty of LS1 powered cars around the 14.0 range too, so driver makes a TREMENDOUS different in these cars (as with the DOHC Cobras).
Wednesday when I picked my truck up from having the new exhaust installed there was a '99 Z28 SS with a cat-back and Whisper lid being tested on the dyno at Thunder Racing. That dang thing hit 303 hp AT THE REAR WHEELS with a couple of bolt-ons. That, my friends, is stunning.
Anyway, LS1 cars are fargin' quick with a couple of tweaks and a good driver. You take one of those in a stock Gen 2 Lightning and you've DEFINITELY got something to brag about. And I hope you gloated when you did it.

How to tell an LS1 car is the headlights. LS1 camaros have the fisheyes, firebird the 4 pop up lights, LT1 camaros have 4 headlights, firebirds have 2 much narrower pop ups. A stock Lightning can kill a LS1 out of the hole, keeping the lead can be tough though.
I too have not seen even a cobra99 run as good as my LIGHTNING. nevermind a GT. but we all know some cars just seem to go so good compared to others of the same make model and so on. these cars are factory super freaks. ive seen as much as 1 sec. difference stock to stock with the same driver.why cant we all get these freak cars? just like you all, some of you have run as good as 13.6 stock while some are still in the 14.2 range. they might all be the same trucks but they are not all the same.
Since I have owned both cars (98 & 95) LS-1 and LT-1 then I would probably qualify to tell the difference. Usually with the Camaros it is easy as the headlights are noticeably different. The LS-1 looks like a large goldfish and the LT-1 looks like a shark from the front. On the TransAm cars it is a bit more difficult. Usually you can tell by the tailights (and we don't like looking at those at all!!!!) The Formula/T/A cars from 98 on (LS-1) have a honeycomb shape and the sides of these same cars have a fake brake air-duck on the front fender near the door. The 93-97 Formula/TransAm cars have the typical Pontiac cheese grater tailights. The LT-1 engines tend to have a lot more bottom end and grunt off of the line whereas the LS-1 motors have much more top-end power. The way I always tell the difference is to roll my Lightning window down on that side and listen for how many rattles or squeaks the car actually has. More = a 93-97 car. A few less rattles equals a 98+ car.

Paul,
Just read your thread and I've got some questions. I own a 96 LT1 vette and have been doing heavy research into mods for my motor ranging from LT4 heads and LT4 hot cam, to an ATI supercharger. Since you have owned both, you could answer this. I've read that the LT4 motor has the bottom end grunt of an LT1, but the high end pull of the LS1. I love the low end pull of my LT1 and would not want to sacrifice any low end. In daily driving (not hard accelerating, but leisurely), is there a noticeable difference in low end between the LT1 and LS1? And then at about what rpm range does the LS1 start to feel like it pulls harder than an LT1?

Yoda, 303 rwhp from a motor with only slightly more displacement than the 5.4l and NO SUPERCHARGER is pretty fargin' impressive to me. Adjusted for weight, it'd be equivalent of a '99 Lightning making about 420 rwhp.
The LS1 is really an excellent piece of work. Arguably the pinnacle of factory-production, emissions legal, pushrod technology.
I'm waiting for the chance to dyno my truck, but I'm hoping to get past the 500 rwhp mark, but my mods have gone way beyond a big air filter and a cat-back (which is what the SS that I saw had).

Hey David!
I had a similar run this weekend! I DO know it was a Z28... Saw the badging. This one had the bigger scoop on the hood. The scoop could have been a mod tho. When I pulled up next to him I noticed a very LOUD exhaust. The tires didn't look stock either... They were bigger in the back than in the front.
Anyway, it was around 1 am... empty four lanes, flat for about 2 miles around, one traffic light about 1/2 mile up the road. He stopped after playing cat and mouse for about a mile. I rolled down the window and told him to start when he wanted. HA! He said "That wouldn't be fair to you! Honk three times and we'll go." HMMMMM.... I honked three times and we let it go... We were dead even 'til about 65. I finally started to pull on him around 75. I shut it down around 95 or 100. I was a little worried about the intersection and light we were approaching. We just about had to stop at the light. I guess he was pissed, cuz he had rolled up his window, and punched it when the light changed. There was traffic in my lane ahead, so I don't think he thought we were racing after getting to the light. Just needed to tuck his bow-tie tail and run!
