im surprized that svt went into detail, they usually dont give any information like that.the downs air intake gave more boost. this doesnt sound right?also being #3987 is a good thing, maybee you wont have the problem with your motor like some of the other earlier models.svt told me only the first 10 would be anymore valuble than any others.but those trucks were probally all sent to test people not dealerships anyway.

Technically, SVT is right about boost going down. I had a 5.0 stang with Vortech and when I freed up incoming air on the intake side, and put full flowmaster kit on the exhaust side, I saw 1 1/2 pounds LESS boost.

I called Vortech, they say "Blow as hard as you can through a 1/8 inch tube and then blow through 1/2 inch tube and you'll notice that it hurts like hell to blow through the small tube i.e. more pressure"

When you blow through the 1/2 inch tube you get more volume i.e. cfm, but you lose pressure. More cubic feet of air at low pressure will build more power than less cubic feet of air at high pressure.

I have on my L a hand built 4 inch inlet pipe to a 12 inch long 6 inch diameter power stack filter. Plus, a full Bassani kit and I'll be darned if the needle isn't pegged past 10psi and it would only do 8.5 stock. Therefore, I don't know? I'm not an engineer, but it seems that the centrifugal charger is effected differently than our roots style charger.

Mine shows 9 on the boost gauge stock, i have even heard the the car and drivers test truck was at 10, so another question is why is everyones differnt?

My thought on the different numbers, our stock gauges suck! And, possibly temperature and altitude are to be considered.

10 feet under? Yikes! Do you have fins and gills? ha ha ha....

I'm about 450 feet above sea level and with all my add ons, the needle's past 10. I need an autometer gauge to see real pressure.

Hey Burnout101, when did you purchase your Lightning? I got mine on the 25th of September. Just curious as to what m number is, as 1-800-Ford-SVT is never home when I am awake to call them. Actually, what would be better is to know the last four digits of your VIN, mine is 6757. Does it relate to production #?

The kit came with EVERYTHING from front to back, top to bottom. Plus, a few extra nuts and bolts? Hope I put everything on! I had to buy nothing extra, except maybe trash bill for all those darn cardboard boxes. Felt sorry for the ups man who had to deliver all that.

If you are a nloc member, you can get a discounted price from Sal or North American Motorsports.

Yes there is a lot more exhaust sound at W.O.T. Not too bad cruising. Not as loud as I thought there'd be, when you can see DAYLIGHT through the two mufflers!

There doesn't seem to be the resonance in the cab like flowmaster's systems. I've used flowmaster in the past, after owing them a year, I would never put another one on another vehicle I owned. That 1800-2200rpm resonance that they make at cruise speed just kills my ears after being on the road for 30 minutes or more.

Performance? Hell yes! I don't have a way of measuring it at this time, in the spring I will post quarter mile times. But I have other add ons, so it won't be just the exhaust. If you have a filter kit, times 3-4 is about what it feels like. If that helps at all?

When I bought mine mid November, both dealers were kind of secret on their price. You can e-mail me at ksanp@aol.com and I'll let you know. Because I don't want to P anyone off on this board.

As far as the stock boost gauge, I put a Phantom Gauge on also and the stock gauge is pretty well on track. Although there are a few times that the boost will go above 10 psi and the stock gauge is useless as far as accuracy.
