Air/Fuel gauges...which to use?
I'm planning to install air/fuel gauges in both my 03' Lightning and 00' F-150 4x4(5.4 s/c). I just can't decide which to go with. I have all Autometer gauges in both so I'm kinda leaning w/ them. Can anyone give me pro/cons of different gauges. Any info. is greatly appreciated. Thanks
If you get an air/fuel guage, I suggest that you get a wideband set-up. These tell you in real time what the air/fuel is. The ones autometer sells are just a light show. They use narrowband technology. Some of the best guages are, Dynojet wideband, AEM wideband, FJO wideband, ect.
Good luck with your choice,

I have the AEM wideband, it has a digital guage which is what I wanted. It also has an analog output which allows me to datalog to my x-cal 2 along with the other perameters that the x-cal lets me log. As far as ease of installation, this is to simple to install. 3 wires and the sensor. You have the power, ground, analog and the wideband sender in the exhaust.
The dynojet has an analog guage and allows you to datalog RPM,throttle position, air/fuel. I understand it is harder but how much I couldn't tell you. I wish I could comment on the other brands but I can't. Maybe someone else will chime in and comment on the others. You can also use the search here on the forum and look up widebands.

I like my dynojet wideband, it also has a datalogging feature so you can go back and check you runs, good way to check to see if the A/F's are right throughout the run. you can also program it. it has a warning LED on it so you can have it trigger to come on under certain settings. for example, mine is set to come on under these conditions: greater than 60% throttle, over 3,000 RPM, and an a/f greater than 12.1 the light turns on. this feature is nice so you don't always have to watch the A/F gauge.
