Kind of funny, my bride Pat is a native of Phoenix AZ. We have been married for 39 years, but she still reminds me of one of those northern 4 seasons ladies. We also have a 5 car garage here in GA, and that was what sold me on the house. She agreed, thanks to goodness.
We were fortunate to have had the experience to live in Sweden, Peru and Canada in addition to postings in Oregon, California, Connecticut, South Carolina and now finally, well not finally, in Georgia. I hope to retire to Mexico and fish my guts out.
Point is, however long, is I am fortunate to have a lady who lives with my Lightning, my two 56 Ford F100 street rods, two 69 Chevies and my soon to be inherited 92 Lincoln Town Car and she is totally supportive.
I'm not too sure how good she would be in a northern bar fight, but I would suspect she could hold her own pretty good. Ford, Chevy or Lincoln, which she now drives.

You guys are great.
My girlfriend loves cars, she likes the lightning also, as trucks go she is not much for a truck that isn't lifted or at least 4X4. If I don't get the 2000, I would roll it over and order a 2001. Or get the SVT Thunder when (please) it comes out
... I would like to be able to transport more than one passanger. When I order the truck, my first intention was to Lease, I only drive 8.1 miles to work, all city >50mph, but the lease rates are highway robbery.
On top of saving for those things, I have an $800 a month Student Loan bill. (I was hoping for 800 dollars a month I could sleep under it, wait, I can, my rent is about that, damn it...)
So I wait a year, it will only hurt a little, It won't kill me. (Will it???)
Thanks for your intrest.
Steven

sorry typo!!
Was reading thru a post and I remember someone asking about it ...my statement was supposed to be a question regarding how they intended to do this with a mechanically driven supercharger not when or who sorry again.Actually I believe the only way to increase boost on a turbo is by utilizing an aftermarket wastegate. If controlled by computer it would have to be a motor controlled wategate or a solenoid controlled wastegate that that would open the signal line to the wastegate bleeding off psi tricking the wastegate.Or you can apply pressure to the back side of the wastegate creating a resistance for the exhaust pressure therefor the motor will see more boost in order to open the wastegate with the additional resistance. Now with a blower you are correct by stating a pulley will increase boost.Hey Sal and others out there, what is your recommendation for mods on this truck? I am an extremist!!! I have a 390+ hp streetire dragbike(turbocharged with nitrous) no wheelie bars... I would like to have the parts before my truck arrives in feb or march...nevermind the nitrous ,already have the kit waiting. Give me the low down...headres,exhaust,etc...thanks guys...

How the heck are you guys finding the Lightnings to order for less than MSRP. In my search for one in Phoenix, the dealers want thousands in excess of MSRP (they also sell fast for this price). I felt fortunate enough to have ordered one and have a dealer agree to sell at MSRP. I also got on some of the dealer networks some members had posted on the board and they hooked me up w/3 different dealers, and none of them would come down a penny off MSRP.
Hey, Ray, while off subject I needed to brag - the lady I'm seeing power-shifts better than I do. She cuts 1.5 60' times ON THE MOTOR in her LX and has been known to work a wiff or two of the giggle gas into the mix on occasion. She's hard-core Ford with 3 5.0 Mustangs, a Torino GT Convertible, and a Lightning. And she's got some very nice pieces of hardware waiting to drop into her LX (which was running 12.0s on the motor) in hopes of seeing single digits.
It's kinda mind-boggling sometimes (maybe latent chauvanism on my part?) to have a "what do you think about those new Avenger heads?" conversation with a woman. And I've seen a guy drop to one knee and propose to her on the spot after seeing a power-shifting exhibition.
Ok, brag mode off... I just consider myself to be extraordinarily lucky.
Later!

Bill Murray,
Great analysis of your bride for 39 years. Have me a Georgia Peach of 26 years that has traveled with all over the world while serving in the Air Force for 25 years now. sorry to say I gave up my fast car days for this fast woman and never regreted it. In all due respect, Spain, Iceland and Japan were not places to have American muscle cars.
Now the spousal unit said the old boy deserves a new toy and gave me nothing but a green light when I wanted to order it. She has looked at the tonneau covers and we agreed on the A.R.E LSII when the Red Streak gets here. So I have a little different take on this short term relationship with a woman and a long term relationship with a Lightning. If you get the right woman and work at the relationship it can long lasting and a daily driver put very crudely. You can have a long term relationship with the Lightning, but if it last 26 years the Lightning will not be a daily driver.
Just my thoughts like you Jim... we have been there, done that and have dozens of T shirts.

Well, we've only been married for 3 years (second time around for both of us) but Toni and I feel like we have known each other forever.
One of the many things that attracted me to her is her appreciation for things automotive. She has owned BMW's and Porsche's, used to sell $1,000,000 motor homes, can drive a semi tractor trailer rig, drives our 5-speed SHO as well as me, enjoys attending all kinds of racing events and, most important of all, loves to drive our '99 L as much as I do.
When I decided that I couldn't live without a new Lightning, all she said was, "I think they're beautiful; I hope you order a black one; and I promise I won't ask to drive it until you've had it for at least a week."
She's the best!

I feel I should give my wife some credit...
My wife, too, enjoys automobiles. While looking for a '99.5L, we came across a used BMW that she REALLY liked. We came to an agreement - I would buy her the Bimmer if she would buy me the '00L after she graduated nursing school in Dec. Plus, she wanted me to keep my MR2 as well rather than trade it in or sell it. Not a bad deal, eh?
We've been married for over 4 yrs and known each other for more than 8. Being married to a mature older woman definitely has its benefits. BTW, she, too, likes the white the best; can't stand the red since it clashes w/ her red hair.
