Interesting competition at the track tonight

Couple GTO's running low 12's. No NOS under the hood on either that I can see. No turbos, not blowers. What the hell is done to these things? They were coming out of the hole like a rocket.

There was an SRT Ram there too. First time I got to see one run. Best Run I saw was 14.0 @ 102. Guy said the thing was impossible to launch. Even babying it. His runs were from the 14.0, to as high as a 16.7!!!!

Once it hooks though, man, it pulls!!

As for the Rams...I'll bet a street race would be a different story, but at the track....embarassing!

The GTO's must have had Head/Cam setups or something. I had a co worker with a magnuson blown goat that was a fri ggin dog! I'm going to log into LS1 tech, and I bet money I can find out whose goats those were and what they have done!

What did you run for times last night?

APS makes some really nice kits. I talked to them a little about making one for the L, but it didn't go anywhere.

My buddy put his BONE stock GTO with the LS1, not the LS2 that is in them now to 13.0 at Cecil.

He's now got headers, cam and DRs and it runs very nice.

Gto

I've seen them in the low 13's with just air filters. but 12.4's are smoking and it came out of the hole like a bat out of hell. It was an older guy and didnt want to tell me what he had done, but there was no signs of anymajor power adders.

We had the Stang up there last night. Running 11.7's with 1.58 60's!!!!

We have most of the bugs worked out. We are pretty sure that the mechanical pump isn't supply enough fuel and running out at the top end. We have an electric fuel pump and regulator. Wired up the msd box and ignition problems are gone.

The 04s had the less powerfull LS1 motor and the 05s have the 405hp LS2 motor. I was at the track during a private test day and witnessed a few GTOs being drag tested for a magazine under optimum controlled conditions. The 05 LS2 model wasn't anywhere close to 12s, and on a 100 shot, it did break the 12 second mark but still wasn't impressive in my book. This was at a sea level track, so not like they were racing at 5k feet or anything. There was an 04 there with an intercooled vortech on it, and it was just a hair faster than the juiced 05.

BTW, those cars weigh 3900 lbs without driver! That almost as heavy as some Gen 1 Lightnings!

My 05 Cobra weighed 3850 with a 150lb driver in it on the same day. Oh, and it was also faster than all the GMs being tested that day .

I would be that the had a little gas. I believe its Compucar that makes the kit. It runs one hose to the intake, wherever you want to mount it, and the bottle is in a gym bag. The senliod is in the car, and you get power by pluggin into your cig lighter. Very stealth, and works very well.

All you need on those cars to go a low number with an LS2 is headers and some driving ability.

Maybe he had gears. 12.4 isn't out of the question for simple bolt ons and an LS2 or LS1.

And a couple new LS1 cams out are STEAAAAAALTHY to say the least.
