Question chip question for sal

sal,
I saw on the computer chip bulletin board that the guy for the super chip says that their chip adjusts the timing, shift, ect over the whole rpm range and the other brands just make a difference during heavy acceleration. Is this true, and if it is whats the advantage of one over the other. I'm considering buying one for my lightning and am very confused.

Hey Brian, Sal here. This topic has really gotten me steamed in the past. Many times in the past, Mike Troyer has stated that the Superchip is the only chip on the market that controls PCM functions over the entire RPM range and all other brands only do it at WOT. Every time this was stated, I posted back that this is not true and that the chips we use (C&M Racing/Autologic - Mike Wesleys chips) not only do this as well, but have more functions available to us to modify than the Superchip. It wasn't until I had posted a really nasty reply that Mike finally responded. Now, I don't go to any of the other F-150 Boards, so I don't know if Mike is who you are referring to, and if it's not, I don't want to put the blame on him;I'm just stating facts right now. So for the record, yes, our chips control everything, at everytime, in the PCM. I can even change the increments in the software that everything is set up for, so you can see that our chips have control over whatever we want them to control. In all honesty, aside from tranny functions, changing many non-WOT parameters can have a negative effect on drivability, so there really isn't a whole lot you can change at non-WOT anyway. I do a lot of drivability diagnosis at my dealership, and have spent many, many hours doing drivability tuning on my mass air kits for the early trucks, so I know what you can and can't do.

thanks for the info, I think i'm going to order one of your chips partially in appreciation for the help you give on this board, us novices really appreciate it and i just wanted to tell you and I'm sure everybody else will back me up.
What info do you need to order one, any codes or anything like that? Should i call you or mail the order?

Thumbs up

Bggroth,

Looks like Sal has made a provision for online ordering at his site, so you can either do that or mail it in. Click on the link in his signature. If you want to mail your order in, click on the link in Sal's signature, click on order, and there is a place you can click on from there to print the order form.

Larry

Hey bggroth,

This is totally off the subject of Lightnings. I couldn't help but notice your signature. 2 sled's (and in my opinion the best race sled on the market, and I'm sure Blair Morgan would agree), both being the sno pro's? Are you a factory sponsored racer? I used to be a Polaris diehard up until last season when I purchased my first Cat. I bought a ZR440 sno pro and had it shipped to Arizona. I purchased from Tim @ Black Magic last season. I am not a factory racer, but was able to buy one from Tim as they had alot of races canceled and consequently he was stuck w/2 units in the crate. I am absolutely amazed at the light weight, suspension, handling and unbelievably smooth/strong power from the little 440. I've had many performance sleds; XCR's, XC's and even a Storm. No sled has impressed me as much as this one. I've read that the 2000 sp's are the new body style and my understanding is they now have electronically controlled servo motors for the power valves. I can only imagine how nice yours are.

Peter B,
Yea I get my sled directly through Arctic Cat, only at a reduced price. I don't get a chance to trail ride these sleds but I agree they are very fun to ride. We have only ridden the new ones in about 2" of snow around the yard and they do seem to have more midrange power than last year. Do you have have any snow out there yet? Brian
