Speaker Box questions
Greetings;
I built an enclosure for a single JL 10"; fit's behind the passenger seat of my '99 Lightning, with that side of the cargo storage bin removed (cut 'er off with a hacksaw!)
I relocated the CD Changer to the drivers side, same configuration as before; the factory wiring harness is JUST long enough. Looks stock, and now I can reach it while driving.
Had an Alpine 3 ch amp installed, that just barely fit under the passenger side seat; powers JL 6.5" coax speakers in doors, and the sub.
Will post pictures when I get home; mine has a compound curve on the outer edge; lot of work but looks really nice, and allows maximum enclosure volume for a relatively low F3.

I installed an MTX Thunderform a month ago. Got it from Electronic Warehouse http://www.4electronicwarehouse.com/..._reg_cab.shtml
I have 2 MTX amps, one under each seat and an Eclipse 5504 and 5962 in the dash, JL Audio 3-ways (XR653-CS)in the doors and kick panels (Q-logic). I'm very happy with the sound and appearance.

Got the MTX Thunderform installed today w/ 2 10" MTX 200w subs. Also had a 5-channel 300w Clarion amp. installed under the pass. seat. It looks and sounds awesome! The Thunderform looks like it was made there.
FYI, the CD changer will have to be relocated and the only place for it is behind the pass. headrest. Too big to fit in the glove box or under the driver's seat. Didn't really affect the recline of the seat since it's only a couple of inches thick and you can't see it from the front(also easier to get to while driving).
Finally got a little thunder with my Lightning. KaBoom....!

tampabay, the CD changer will fit horizontally beneath the center seat. If you affix it to the bottom of the seat, it wont affect the seat's travel and you can change cd's without your eyes ever leaving the road. That's where mine is at.
Sounds Like you have the system Im working on. I have three MTX amps 240, 280 and a 2160. Also have a Kicker SoloBaric 10"and MTX 3Way cross-over . Going to get a 5506 and and Q-logic kick panels along with Kicker 6.2 Resolutions. I want to use one 10" on the passenger side to keep a bit of room behind the seat.

Hey SVT54SC,
I noticed the 2" lowering shackles in your sig. Could you please tell me where you got them and how much? Easy to install? Affects on handling or hauling payload? Thanks in advance for all the answers!

Collin

I believe the correct color is grey. Charcoal is a couple of shades darker.

Also, CD Changer mounts to the Thunderform directly behind the headrest not to the headrest itself.

I just bought my mtx thunderform loaded with speakers for $350.00. I also thought of replace them with JL 10" W0 but what I have been told they will not fit due the depth of the magnets. If I am not mistaken the W0 are the shallowist JL sub.

Can anyone tell me if MTX makes one to fit 12inch subs,I have a pair of JL 12W3s.It is going to be tough if I have to build my own box,It would be a great help to find out the measurements for just the chambers and the thickness of the walls of the chambers.THANKS
first off, where did you get one loaded for $250? now, after your response, i tried to fit my w6's in the box, but couldnt get the mtx's out. they will be tough to remove. i looked in a jl brochure i have and saw he w1's are the shallowest at 4 1/2, followed by the rest between 5 1/16" - 5 5/16". if you try the swap, let me know how it sounds.

Collin,
I got them from Competion Sales (Pasadena, TX.) for $38.95+ tax. I found them in the Truckin' Magazine a drove over to get them. It was an easy install with a floor jack, a large drift pin & hammer, a combo wrench and a 1/2" drive rachet & socket. I think the wrench and socket were 13/16", in all it took around 30 minutes. The ride is a bit less as harsh, I don't use it for loads so I haven't tried to see if it hurt the carrying capacity. I seems to handle the same if not a bit better in the corners, its really closer to a 3'' drop and makes the truck sit level now.
