Does anybody know if Ford has a new engine,there is a dealer who had an 2000 F150 4x4 supercab 4dr with a 5.8 engine truck sold same day he got and he's got a white one coming in next week.The truck looks like an offroad lightning on steroids, very mean looking has similiar ground effects as lightning,I think the 5.8 is the engine in the navigater but I'm not sure.I would appreciate any input.

The dealer was Valleyford in Milford Ma # 508-473-2800.The truck ad was 2000 F-150 4x4 supercab,4dr 5.8 eng,am/fm/st.cd,ps,pb,pw,full power,o miles,blk/grey,fully loaded. L.A west conversion, full leather,killer ground effects. call for pricing. It looks just like my old lightning same front air dam,flareside with side steps.truck was sold immediately with a white one on the way.I called to ask about pricing and to ask if engine size was misprint they said no it was a 5.8.I can't find any info anywhere on a 5.8 unless you go back a few years to 96.The only thing I can figure is it is a 6.8 V10 and they are mistaken.I will try to scan photo ad and paste it on this site

There is a LA west conversion on the net , but no ref to any motor work. Just appearance packages/interior and exterior. They are at www.lawest.com

5.8L engine doesn't make sense. My understanding is that Ford killed the 351 engine and even Saleen can't get them from Ford any more.

 

I checked out the LAWest website and there was a picture of the same truck but it was red and it was a 5.4,they probably wanted me to go there and try to sell me on one of there trucks,still a good looking truck but I would figure $40000. to much money.
