Ok, well im pretty possitive the lightning is what I want, money from my job is starting to come in, so maybe 2 or 3 weeks and I'll have the truck. Im going to be buying somethings for it like everyone around here does.

The first thing I want is a center console like the one in this picture.



I understand its a 2000-2002 expedition console? Where can I buy one online?

Another item I cant track down online is a hard bed cover. I also would like your opinions on hard or soft cover. The lightning Im buying comes with a soft one, do you think I should upgrade to a hard cover?

This isn't really an accesory, but will I need better breaks, or are the stock breaks good, the only upgrades I plan on putting into it performance wise is a ram air hood and the cool air intake kit, and a magnaflow exaust I think its called?

Other than that im thinking about rims, witch I probably wont get enough money for, billet items, new grills, and maybe some new mirrors.

So if you could help hunt down some of those parts, recomend other things to me, tell me anything that'll help me out with these parts I want, it'll be appreciated.

Well first off let me say great choice on the truck. I don't know much about the expy console or where to get them other than keep an eye out on ebay. As far as other mods I think everyone will agree you should think about getting an FTVB. This is like a shift kit for your truck but it will actually prolong the life of your tranny. Also, don't fool yourself, once you start modding you will probably never stop. Since I have had my truck (about 1.5 years) I have put a lot of money into (don't want to add up everything or it would probably make me sick). I think that if you want better brakes I would probably go with the rotor pros rotors and hawk hps brake pads (may be a little off on the spelling on either of those). Good luck with the truck and I hope you have as much fun with it as I have had.

 

I think your right about me not wanting to stop adding things to it. I dont have that much longer a wait until I can pick the lightning up. A 3 or 4 weeks maybe. Im pretty sure im going to pick up the bed rug and console the day I get the car. And than a hard bed cover sometime before the snow comes, I would try to spell the proper word, but I would mis-spell it very badly, see watch. Tonneuia???

The breaks im not possitive on yet, they are alot of money, and I dont have that much. If I do get them its going to have to wait until next summer, same for the rims, if I choose to get them. I think im gonna wait until I get the truck and than I'll see what other mods im gonna get. I dont need to make it any faster though, that much I can tell you.

BTW - With regard to the console, do you think if I went to a ford dealer with the truck, and said I want to buy a console that'll fit it, that they could order one for me? And than I'll take it to a shop I know of locally, and have them do the work, I've heard stories on this board about dealers doing crummy jobs on peoples cars. Just in general. I want to learn how to do these things my self, but I dont think its a wise choice for right now.
