Talking towing and gas mileage

I just got back from a trip from Florida to Indiana and back and I must say I am very happy with the performance of my Lightning. I was towing a 24' flatbed trailer on the way up and averaged between 15 and 17mpg at 70 mph in overdrive. On the trip back carrying a car weighing about 2500 lbs. and I stayed at 14 mpg at 50 mph in 3rd gear. The Lightning now has almost 5000 miles on it and I can't decide wether it is starting to break in or if it just likes to work for it's meals. The last trip I took at 3000 miles I ran 70 mph in overdrive and couldn't get over 14 mpg. Go figure.
