Nitto questions

Alright, so all the talk about me hating nittos....well I decided I should go buy a pair before I ran my mouth, so I did, and they suck at the track, just like everyone has told me. Hell, I think I hooked better on the street.

Granted it was 100% humidity, slippery, blah blah blah, but I just couldn't get the damn things to hook. Normally on F1's I am consistent low 1.8's, high 1.7s on a good track, and mid 1.8s on a bad track. The best I could pull tonight on the Nittos was a 1.84, and I was blowing them off on the 1-2 shift. That was probably mostly track prep.

What tire pressure is everyone running and how are you leaving? I'm on the stock stall, and hope the next time out to go mid-low 1.7s.

yeah

never had good luck with nittos at the track. Almost lost it a couple times on the 1-2 **** myself. Ran 18-32 in all increments. Complete waste as far as I can see. Some guys have had great luck though.

I've heard Nittos can be a problem....Good thing, I was planning on getting some when I get some 22's.

Can anyone suggest something better...At least for 22's, traction/ride quality wise???

First of all, you have to heat the **** out of them. Then only run about 15# of pressure. My best 60 with them was a 1.73, and I was being as agressive as i could be. I only spun once with them and you saw that first hand. I let my friend with a bolt on truck with 0 traction mods and a 2400 stall use my set of old Nitto's and he pulled back to back 1.68's on them. He only put 400hp to the wheels on a stock eaton also.

How did they compare to the F1's on the track? Still hook better? Anyone else with a similar experience? F1's compared to Nitto's..or others for that matter.

Yeah, but as you saw, I was going 1.79 on my F1s all day. So this 1.8 crap with DR's is making me mad. I was runnin 15lbs last night. I'm gonna work my way up and try them at different tracks and see what I can do. I will find a way to hook, or I'll just get rid of them until a BFG or MT comes out.

Have you tried them at MIR where you pulled 1.79 on the f1's? Like I said I was pulling 1.72-3's that weekend also.

Nice 60's on the F-1's Ed!!
I've had the Nitto's for a little while and they suck, best I could manage was a 1.84!! They're about worn out now and I'm going to put F-1's back on. I guess I need to take driving lesson's from you and Jason!!!(I'm still not going to talk to my tire's like J!! )
I almost wrecked my truck last Wednesday driving to Emission's testing from the darn bald Nitto's, was sideway's going down route 40 in heavy traffic!!

Nah.

But I've been going 1.82-1.84 on F1's at CAPITAL, on Friday nights even. Last night was poorly prepped, and I need to get some practice in, I was just wondering what everyone uses for tire pressure.

To whomever asked, I run my F1's at 24 PSI, that seems to be the magic number for my truck.

Found out tonight that they hook pretty well on concrete on the street.

I run Nitto DR's on my truck all the time on the street. On the track I'd only run slicks. What the Nittos do for me though is keep the truck straight; with F1's this truck would be dangerous to drive with your foot on the floor.

The DR's will still spin on mine, but at least the truck goes straight instead of sideways. For a higher-powered truck they're the way to go on the street. Track use, a slick is much better.
