Post How does your boost measure up?

Here is a question that is ONLY for people with completely STOCK Lightnings.

Realizing that our boost gauges are inaccurate, what is the highest boost you have ever seen at WOT?

Mine is still all stock, and in 2nd (The only gear I really have time to watch the boost in!) I've watched it creep up past the 10psi mark, almost all the way over to the black part of the gauge. I'm curious if anyone else is also getting this with a completely stock setup.

I've heard of plenty that do it after the PSP intake kit or something like it, so rehashing that fact isn't what I'm looking for.

Cool

Ditto here, boost doesn't seem to be a problem. My gauge is giving me the same info. Wonder if a boost gauge can be incorporated into a pillar post setup to calibrate/verify..?

If it`s any help, after I mounted my mechanical boost guage I saw 1 less lb. of boost.I`ve been using mechanical boost guages for a long time, seem to find them more accurate.

With my Superchip in and out, I saw the Boost gauge go all the way over into the black. I bought a Boost gauge and it showed a max of about 12 lbs., on cool nights.

I installed an Auto Meter gauge with their piller mount and it shows the factory gauge is way off. The factory gauge shows 6-7 lb and the Auto Meter shows 10 lb in optimal conditions and 9 most any time I want it. I confirmed it with another test gauge. Bottom Line, the factory gauge is junk.

Once I get Sal's airbox and chip I think 12 lb might be in my future

I just put a superchip in. Before, I NEVER got past 8psi under any conditions. Now, it comes pretty close to 10 but not quite. I'm hoping Sal's kit will get me up over the top

Mine makes it about a needles width past 10. Remember guys if all our blowers pump the same amount of air the only way to see a boost difference would be a restriction in the intake system. I wonder if our intakes could have the same problems as the 99 Cobras. (casting flash restrictions) Also a restriction ahead of the blower with cause a loss of boost, after the blower an increase, and better intercooling a loss.

I have seen 10 psi on the stock boost gauge. This was in second gear around 4000 rpm. Does the 10 psi seem realistic when Ford says the Eaton supercharger is only 8 psi?

I have seen alot of boost creep up to 12psi or more, The boost will be dependent on air density, engine speed, air path into the blower and past the intercooler. If you have a restriction in the intake ie. ( rubber hose collapsing into air box or clogged air filter) will result in lower boost, A slipping belt will also show a decrease. Verify the air inlet through the fender is installed and seal correctly. There is only a small push tab to help locate it. It will not take much to dislodge that rubber hose.
I hope this helps.
