Angry Death rattle!

Well guys the Lightning is going in Monday for a overnight stay at the local Ford dealership so that when they start it cold on Tuesday morning they listen for what I believe is the dreaded piston wrist pin rattle. This only happens when cold and seems like its getting a little worst. The truck has 6k miles on it. Does anyone who has had theirs checked out have any TSB numbers or words of encouragement? Its going to blow if they have to put another engine in. If so hopefully the new will be as quick as the old(13.2) Wish me luck

Jeff

In either case, it should be ready for the spring opening of Route 66. I'm really looking foward to that day and putting winter (arghh!)and a few Chevies as well behind us.
If they have to change engines, see if you can get matching serial #'s as Peter did. See:https://www.f150online.com/f150board/Forum36/HTML/000667.html

Good Luck

If you'd like to hear it... http://www.mindspring.com/~acbradley/index.html
and select garage tech.

My truck has a rattle too but I dont think it is getting louder. Wait a little longer and see if it gets any louder. It would still be covered by ford. After reading all the posts on the problem I might have been listening to close and hearing normal engine noises. My Suburban has the same engine noises. Scott
