Question IC# on a after market chip

OK,
Hating to be the cheap one of the group, but I am going to be anyway. I was wondering what IC SuperChips or Hpyertech Chips were burnt on to. I have an IC burning and eraser at work, as we do alot of IC programming. It seems to me (and I could be wrong, ICs very in price alot) that the chip should only be about $20 at cost, and we're paying about 345+ in programming. Seems a little high if you ask me. Just wondering if someone wouldn't mind posting the numbering from the top of the chip for me. I'll worry about getting the program for the chip next.

Thanks

The chip is encased, so you dont really see it. As for the cost of the programming, your paying for all the time gone into learning what has to be changed, how much change, etc.. There is alot of time that goes into these things to get the finished product, not to mention that the company doesn't do it for FREE.

Hey SVT, Sal here. You have to realize that there is more to a "chip" than just the EPROM. Yes, I will admit that the EPROM that actually holds the program only costs about ten bucks, but that's only the memory part of the chip. The "module" itself (the rest of the chip) contains other components including a microprocessor that has the task of over-riding the PCMs current memory, and allowing the chip to be used at all. You can't do anything with the EPROM file, unless you have the means to make the PCM accept it. As for the cost, you have to factor in the dyno time, the road test time, the track time, and all the other intensive labor involved in producing a product that performs, while at the same time is safe to use. I'm sure everyone can understand that
