Edelbrock shocks anyone?
Has anyone heard if Edelbrock has made shocks for our Lightings yet? Or are they the same as regular F-150's? My truck feels like Ford robbed some shocks off of the F-350 Dually and stuck them on the Lightning because that is the stiffest shock they make. A performance shock does not a very stiff shock make.
I have noticed going over RR crossings at moderate speeds that the axle jumps all around and feels very jouncy. I put a set of Bilsteins on my wife's Expedition and it helped alot with comp. and rebound, but I've heard that Edelbrocks are better.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Collin

Collin....
A good point you make. I don't find these shocks that bad but, yes they are harsh and of course some of this has to do with the tire profile. I myself am hoping that I can find some Koni's for my beast. If not, I may just give the Edelbrock units a try.

Speaking of tire profile ...
I am looking at replacing my tires and saw some 295/35-18s. I think that might help cornering by reducing sidewall flex and will drop my center of gravity (all of 2cm ..)
Anyway, does anyone know of some good replacement tires or have an opinion on sidewall height?

I E-mailed Edelbrock about buying IAS shocks for my lightning and here is what I got back.

Unfortunately we havent had the new truck in yet to do the testing on.
So it would probably want be till next year.
Thanks Edelbrock Tech
End of message.
I didn't ask about any of their other shocks so it is possible they make another model for the Lightning, but I liked the idea of a shock that adjusts itself as you drive. I run adjustable Koni's on my Mustang and they are far better than stock in all regards. I thought about trying Koni's on the truck, but never checked into it. It's almost winter here in Michigan and I will be putting the truck away for the winter (they use so much salt here you would swear you are driving on a gravel road) so I will try again in the spring. Hope this helps.

Reduced tire profile usaully allows for higher lateral forces, so yes it probable would help your cornering, but remember there is trade of in ride, since you will have in essences replace a nice (smooth) low rate spring, with a high rate spring.

I don't think replaceing the Factory Shocks will be worth the money, but I'm not certain, because I don't have my truck yet, and have only riden in one 99 lightning.
