K&N Air Filter
While at the Matco Tool Nationals here in Houston this weekend I stopped by the K&N booth and talked about the K&N filter for the 1999 Ford Lightning. I was told that it was not out yet and would be ready in about two weeks. He said I could purchase one now and get one of the first 100 filters released for sale to Lightning owners. I thought I read on this message board some of you already had K&N filters? Did I miss something or was the tech's full of ???? He even showed me the hand writen part number in the book of filters with a note about availability in mid November.
BABolt
yes to the laptop custom program. How did you get the filter? what part number did you buy? Looking at the new catalog for K&N 1999, there is no part number for Lightning. Not even listed. Catalog is dated October 1999.

Thanks, when I get mine I will compare. It just goes to show you that even the tech's for some of these companies will say anything to sell something. I would have bought one anyway but to tell me "that they are not out yet, and will be in about two weeks" was nothing more than a lie.
Thank BABolt for your help.

Hi isa4325
I have the K&N filter on my truck right now. I received it from K&N back in August. In fact I took off the Pro-M meter and the K&N cone filter to try out their new filter in the stock air box. It lets you hear the blower wine. Your sig list that your laptop is at your side. Do you have a custom program that lets you connect to the EEC. Boy ! That sure would be cool, could you tell me more. Thanks.

BABolt,
Did you notice a change when you went back. Do you think with the K&N replacement for our air box and opening up the box some will do the same, as removeing it and useing a cone type filter?

Yes I did notice a change when I compared to how my was when it was stock. I now have the chip out of it (it is being reworked)so I can't tell how it will perform with that. I do see 10lbs of boost on the stock gage though. As for modifing the stock air cleaner housing I would wait on that (it is a $300.00 item). Right now my plan is to run a ram air hood (High Risk has one on his Lightning)and too functionally duct air to the air cleaner. When I last spoke with George at Classic Design, he was going to do this, so my plan is to sit back and wait and let him do the R&D. If you want to see photos of this hood both top and underside, I have photos of High Risk's Lighting at my zing.com site (1999 Ford F150 Lightning photos).

This is a picture of the box for the 1999 Lightning K&N filter:
The part # is NA 33 2140. I ordered it direct from K&N and they sent it to me UPS.
