Thumbs up New Best Time---->>>>

Made some runs at Rt 66 tonight. Weather was good and the track hooked so so. Here is my best time with pump gas and stock tires. I think I can give credit to this new best to maybe the chip or perhaps the air inlet mod or the weather. What the heck I'll just say all 3 helped. Here are the numbers.
60' 2.030
330 5.680
1/8 8.669
mph 82.71
1000 11.241
1/4 13.433
mph 102.83

------------------
99.5 red Lightning
High flow air inlet
Superchip
13.61@101.23 before air inlet mod.

My boost gage was pegged at 10 psi. It does seem like the airfilter setup helped. I gained 2 tenths and 1 1/2 mph from last time I was out at this same track. My 60' time was a little worse too. I had a hard time not spinning the tires. Jeff

Jeff:

Sorry, I couldn't make it to Joliet last night. I really wanted to go and would loved to have see those awesome runs of yours.
I had to pack for a Great Lakes fishing trip on Saturday, and for Ford Days @ Great Lakes Dragway on Sunday.
I hope you can make it up there. I'll be driving the not quite as quick (yet) other red lightning.

I installed Sal's conical air filter yesterday and made a couple of short runs last night, no times just seat of the pants, but I'm here to tell you that it helps a lot.

The hole shot torque seems much better and the blower spools up a lot quicker too. My boost gauge would usually peg at around 3500 rpm before and now pegs at well under 3000 ( too busy holding on to really get a good look at it). It has allowed a little more noise to escape from the blower, but that only makes it sound meaner. The Camaro I abused last night got a real nasty surprise when I hit the kick down and the S/C started singing it's song, beautiful music!

Can't wait to get healed up so I can go the track for some real research....

P.S. My NOS kit came in yesterday, I'm gonna fry that RT the next time we meet!

Dear JeffsLightning,

Just wondering, have you been back to the track lately, now that the weather has gotten cooler in most places?

Talking

What's Up Jeff? I don't know if you remember, but I think you stopped me in White Eagle (Naperville, IL) and we talked lightnings for a few min. THose are some bad *** times! It's been months since I've been to 66, but I am still hangin around with a 14.1. I gotta do better than that! I need some advice, but I can't void that good old warranty!

BlkBolt99:

Do you live in the Naperville area?
I'm in West Chicago. Jeff is the closest Lightning owner I've found on this board so far. I think Rte 66 is done for this year, but it would be fun to get a bunch of Lightnings there in the spring. I just put my Lightning away for the winter as I get a much better storage deal if it was in by the 15th. In the meantime, I have a 95 slightly slower F-150 shortbed 4X4 to drive.
