Cool My Trip to Texas II The Roads

I've not made this trip since 1944, so a few comments on the roads/scenery/law enforcement.

Georgia: My present home state:
Roads uniformly good. Scenery is dead dull, nothing but trees and more trees. Never saw one State Trooper, put cruise on 85 in 70 zones and listened to the stereo.
Alabama: Roads in the north central not so good, better from the coast to north route.
Saw a few Troopers, had one funny experience on home lap. Doing 80 in 70 zone, came across a Trooper doing 70 in fast lane. Figured he had me so knocked it down to 75 and passed him on the inside and waited for the lights. Nothing! I went on and got back to 80. This was on a 3-4 mile clear stretch, and he bottled up everyone behind me as they wouldn't pass him. Must have had 50 cars in tow after 5-10 minutes.
Missisippi: Same as Alabama, poor in the north but good on the coast. Heavy Trooper presence, but not too tough. Kept it at 75.
Louisiana: Thanks Wyldman! Beaucoup (SP) Troopers and very, very aggressive, in both packs as well as individual cars. Roads were great, a surprise, and scenery was fantastic. Louisiana has all the worlds water, spent sometimes 10-15 minutes on causeways crossing lakes rivers etc. Thought I was had once when passing a Trooper going the other way at 75. He turned on the lights and slammed on the brakes, but for some reason failed to pursue.
Texas: God's Country!!! Great roads, great Troopers. Drove 85-90 and got passed a couple of times by Troopers who gave me a thumbs up on the truck. Texas has all the money in the world. I was passed many times doing 85 or so by guys in heavily loaded 4x4 f350s and the like, some with trailers, who must have been doing 95 to 100. Gas mileage, forget it. Also by similar Dodges and Chevvies. Scenery was also great.

Enjoyed it greatly and hope to find an excuse to do it again.
