Exclamation Uh Oh!! Huge Problem!!

well its huge to me anyway.... This after noon after work i started to install my new 6lber I got from JDM at FFW Epping this past weekend, evrything was going smoothly and I was having the normal "hard time" with the pulley center hole, when finally it came free!!! But it didnt snap free like I thought it would it just moved, so I crawled under the truck a litte further and to my surprise the bracket that holds the torque converter to the bell housing was bent in half! It is now no good and my truck is just sitting there! is there anything else I can use that would have the same function?! Please help if there is anything else I can use I would much rathere do that than wait a couple days to order one from JDM. Thanks guys!!

somehow you managed to bend the engine lock bracket ?

What you could try is put the bracket on the other side so its pulling not pushing ...

yes thats the bracket I bent, Im in the process right now of taking it off, straightening it and putting it on the other side. I knew that the pulley was on there tight but not tight enough to bend the bracket. thanks for the help. If anyone else has anymore tips please feel free!!

We bent up a box end wrench so that when the box end was fixed to a bolt on the converter, the wrench wedged itself against the wall of the inspection opening when the converter turned.

I was thinking about trying that but then I figured the wrench would just keep falling before i could get enough pressure on it (Im doing this job solo). Also did the wrench damage the threads on the bolt? thanks again.....

you have on wrong

you have it on the wrong way, when you are loosening the pulley, you should be pulling against the strap, not pushing against it, that's why it broke. Just bent it back, throw it back on and you should be fine.

I've never used anything but a carefully placed crow bar.

Make a new one.........I broke one in half trying to remove a pulley before. I made it out of thicker material and it worked fine.

Only takes a half hour tops to make one.
