Thumbs down Waste of time going to the track?

Went last night (West Palm Beach, FL). It was 89 degrees out and humid as hell. Best I could muster was 13.12 @ 104.26 MPH on F1's.

Going on a slightly cooler night, and putting 100 octane and 4 degrees of timing I have run 12.74's @ almost 109. I always run with full weight, everything on the truck. I think I'm done running in this crap weather. It's just too frustrating and disappointing.

Anybody else lose several tenths/MPH just simply running in the summer?

When I moved to Jacksonville from San Diego it definetly affected my E.T. I went from an 8.8 to 9.4 (1/8 mile of course). I def. know what ya mean. Hopefully the fall and winter temps will net me a new and improved time.

I ran a 14.001 @ 99.27 last night weighing in at over 5000 lbs. Was a great night to do some drinking outside when I got back from the track though. Hopefully some of this practice will help me get my 60' time under a 2.0. I suck at launching this thing.

Blown347hatch I wouldn't sweat it. Seeing as Moroso doesn't really maintain their track that well. You'd probly see better times at a track like Brandenton or in Orlando. But Moroso is all we have down here.

Thats exactly why I don't run my truck in the summer.. If there is one thing that aggravates me about our trucks is how slow they are in the heat...

You need to come up north this fall when the winter winds start blowing in!!! I'll bet you would muster up a mid 12 second run easily considering your running 12.76 in Florida (what's a cool night mid 70's??).
I spent most of last summer chasing 12's and did manage one 12.98 on an 85 degree night but most of my times were 13.07 or worse (if I hot lapped). When the fall SSOTN event came around it was around 60 degrees/low humidity by the time they opened the whole track up and I did a 12.76 @ 108.

Don't let the weather get you down, shoot I remember when I lived in North Lauderdale quite a few years ago it actually snowed there, maybe you'll see some lower temps this winter!!

Ya what Jim said

I broke that rule last week cause I wanted to FINALLY make some more passes on this motor. It was triple digit for the most part, humidity you could cut with a knife, there were tons of L's there (NMRA), and tons of 11 sec trucks running 13's (#$%#$)%@#$)@%$) I managed (2) high 12's off spray, BUT I FRIGGING DID THAT ON F-1's BACK IN 02 WITH A 4lb PULLEY AND A MAIL ORDER CHIP, @&($%($&^$)@&$%(@$%(@$

EVERYONE was off a good 1/2 sec, most closer to a full second, AND I AM GOING BACK TO MY NEVER RACE IN SUMMER RULE

YOU DID GOOD FOR THE CONDITIONS BLOWN

I don't even mind the track prep, it's more my MPH and horsepower going down the toilet.

It would be really cool (pun intended) to run somewhere where the weather is better. Need a 38 degree blast on a night that the track is open.

It makes me feel better to hear from so many others how badly our trucks are affected by the heat. So you guys were seeing a half second lost, or more from the heat. I just wish these trucks weren't so tempermental.

whiners ! do you guys like racing, OR, do you just like staring at that cold weather timeslip?? i always thought a bad day at the track was better than any day at work i'm about 3 tenths & 2 mph slower in the heat in the 1/8th mile. but it doesn't stop me at honing my racing skills or enjoying all the fun that comes with being at the track.

Ran this past Wends in 85* heat and a little humid. Best I could muster up was 2 12.9s @ 105.50 on slicks! I've been 12.6s @ 109 on radials!

That seems pretty good by comparison, especially the MPH.

Your right

What the hell, I hadn't made any NON N20 passes since 2002, I was due anyway, CEPT is should have been kissing the 11 sec mark off spray, give me 40 degrees colder and I'll do it
