Bossani Exhaust for Lightning
Had a great conversation with a rep from Bossani yesterday. They will apparently offer two versions for SC Lightnings, a cat back and a complete system. Coated headers, two high performance cats, two mufflers stacked vertically and two 2 3/4 or 3 inch slashed outlets in the original location.
The guy I spoke with said he got the terrible task of test driving the Lightning prototype truck because he lived further away than any any other employee, and said every time he stepped on it he got thumbs up and high fives. Said it sounded "nasty".
I did mispost the price earlier. The retail is 2,000 for the complete system and the street price should be around $1600 plus/minus.
Don't know it for a fact, but he said they had cornered the market for Generation I Lightnings and expected to do so for Generation II.
Was not aware of f150online, so I fed him that address as well as Sal's and suggested he advertise on both. I think he will.
I misplaced his name, but they can be reached at (714)630-1821 Ext 50.
Delivery is expected in 2-3 weeks.

Regarding the Bossani exhaust for Lightnings, this is the first post I have ever made that gained no responses.
Does someone have a better idea, or is the price too high or what?
I have read a lot of posts from folk who are looking for a true high performance system for the Lightnings and I am really surprised that the absence of responses from other traditional suppliers did not get a better response for this possibility. I realize it is really expensive for the total system, but they do have less expensive systems such as the cat back for what I feel are about the same as some of the other exhaust makers are offering.
Any ideas?

Bill,
I am just waiting for someone to get the entire system installed and dynoed before plinking down 1600 bucks. Another purchase that will cause me much grief with the better half. I really hope the Bossini (sp.?) sounds better than the original whimpy p*ss poor sound.
Happy motoring

bill, i would buy a good set of stainless steel ,hpc coated headers and keep the rest of the exhaust as is .say you did pick up 10 hp with their exhaust is it worth the money?ford put alot of time in the stock exhaust and i just dont think the money to hp ratio is worth it.some guy from jba said they picked up 35 hp with their header but sounds a little high to me .but who knows, i didnt think a 4800 lb truck would run 13.95 in 1/4 either.if you want to get controversal i would all so get rid of the converters (here we go).a set of long tube headers would be a plus also but i havent seen any yet.just my thoughts, bill
Hmmm.......1600$ U.S. if pretty pricey, even for a complete system with headers. I realize that it is stainless and polished, etc...but this is ALOT of $$$.......I may consider it, but I doubt it. I am waiting for either Borla (I HOPE!) or B&B to come out with a catback system. In all honesty, I don't think that the header/y-pipe thing is at all needed. There is so much talk of how much development went into the Lightning exhaust that I'll cut the stock muffler apart when I get a new exhaust on and see how much development went into it. My personal thoughts are that it is just a large 3 chamber type muffler, nothing more.....
Hopefully someone will build something soon!

gp........I don't think the hp issue is as important as geting rid of the whimpy sound. I also am waiting to hear what some of the other guys sounds like until I decide what system to install....one way or the other the stock system has to go!!!! The exhaust note of the Flowmasters on my 95 Lightning would be great!!!! So I'm still waiting.....later....Tybee
one thing that tends to go away after 20 years of drag racing and about as many riding harlys with drag pipes is your hearing.i admit the sound of the stock system isnt the best but i would just change the muffler if i just wanted to change the sound.hmmm, wonder what drag pipes would sound like?
