Post Airaid-FYI

If anyone is interested, I contacted Airaid about a system for the Lightning. They said it should be ready to ship in 3 weeks. They did not give me a price.

Welcome RedRocket,

Take a look at the National Lightning Owner's Club site for Lightning accessories. Sal, the original founder of the club and website, Lightning enthusiast extrodinaire, and generally really nice guy (especially for a yankee, ;-}) has a conical filter setup and prefilter assy that works really well. He also offers tuned chips for the Lightnings, both first and second generations.

Hey Chuck, Sal here. Thanks for the plug You can't actually get to my site from the new NLOC site though. But anyone interested in the Power Surge Performance high flow filter kit or custom EEC chips, can use this link to get to the site: http://members.aol.com/NLOCsvt/svt.html

Sal, whats up with the increase did your powdercoater leave on his honeymoon and didn't come back. I was ready to fork over 89.00 plus S&H and then all of sudden I go back to the your site in the price jumped $30.00, I would like your assembly but might have to shop around for that kind of price jump.

Hey guys, Sal here. Unfortunately I had to increase the price of the kit due to an increase in cost on my end. I still feel that the current price is a great deal, especially when you consider that Anderson Ford Motorsport gets over $200 for their Mustang "Powerpipe" and that's bare metal and doesn't include a filter. Besides, ask anyone here who already has one, and I'm sure they'll agree

Question

Sal,

Do you have any performance figures for your chip for the 99's? Dyno figures, 1/4 mile times, that sort of thing.

Sal, going up on your intake filter system is like Ford selling the 99 lighting at 29,995 and then half way though the year rising the price to 34,000. It doesnt seem fair. Just my .02.

The auto companies do this all the time. A mid-year price adjustment is, unfortunately, just a fact of life.

Question

Did Ford actually change the sticker price or was it a dealer "adjustment"?

For the '99's, the greed of some of the dealers for short term profits is the only thing that caused the purchase price to rise above factory MSRP and gouge the customer. FoMoCo was, for once, innocent.

Ford has, however, raised the base price by $1,000 on the forthcoming 2000 model (according to published reports).

Hopefully, we will not see future mid-year price hikes on the Lightning, but it sure has happened in the past to a lot of other cars/trucks from all the major makers.
