Crate ZZ 502/502
Hello guys,
Please don't flame me for mentioning the Crate 502 Chevy Big Block. I just have a few questions. Down the road it's almost inevitable that I will want to pull the 5.4, and begin building another engine. My questions revolve around Ford/Chevy engines that will fit in the engine bay without cutting or alteration of any kind. This page has some basic info on this engine that gave me the idea. http://www.gmgoodwrench.com/crate_en...al/ix_5252.htm
Thanks,
Metallic Blue

Hey Blue,
Ford has a giant crate motor available that runs, I believe, 506 c.i.d. I read an article on it recently and remember only that it had some very impressive numbers behind it. Maybe someone else on the board can help me out with some of the details.
There is no need to resort to extreme measures such as using parts from {expletive deleted}.
Fun things to know and learn.....

The "FORD" crate motor is 514 C.I.
and is rated at 600 H.P. As you can
see that is 100 H.P. more than the
chevy 502 C.I. 502 H.P.
Also FORDS price is avery reasonable
$6,895.00 And you can run on 92 octane
pump gas.

I think you are talking about the 514 C.I. big block based on the 460 truck engine. It's available from Ford at around 7000 dollars. I saw the ad in a Mustang magazine. At 600 H.P it will eat a 502's lunch!

i believe i read a test on that 502 once and they couldnt get the advertized horsepower out of it as supplied, granted they went efi rather than carb, but i beleive they were off by about 20hp and ftlbs give or take
