Hey everyone after 3 or 4 weeks of my lightning being in the shop after hitting a dog. i need a little advice. i need an intercooler for it is there anyway you guys know of to get one a little quicker this is getting rediculous. my dealer is not an svt dealer i dont think that is the problem. maybe you have a friend that works at your dealership help me out a little. i know this is a little wierd but im going thru withdrawal. by the way sal i received your filter but have not had a truck to put it on yet. thanx

I would go to a SVT dealer the dealerships around here wont work on an SVT if they dont deal them. Only SVT trained mechanics are suposed to work on Lightnings.

Hey guys, Sal here. There is really no such thing as an SVT trained technician. They did that the first few years when SVT was introduced, but it really meant was that the techs knew what a Cobra or Lightning was. Any dealer can work on an SVT vehicle. They don't have to if they don't feel comfortable doing it, or if they don't have the special tools some SVT vehicles require, but they sure can do it. All dealers have the same service information, which includes SVT based vehicles. The only thing that a dealer can't do (SVT or Non-SVT) is take apart a 4V Cobra motor. If there is an internal engine concern on a 4V Cobra motor, it must be remoaved and sent back to the two engine builders that assembled it originally at the plant.

Sal,

What about the intake/exhaust work Ford is doing on the '99 Cobra? Is this classified as "internal" 4V work requiring return of the motor to the factory, or can the dealers (SVT and otherwise) do the job at the dealership?
