I replaced both my 00&02 L seat bottoms luckily the dealer covered them right at warranty expiration. I guess once you go out of warranty it shows up in Ford sytem so, they don't like to repair them then! goodluck ! give it a shot kick the tires on a new Mustang he might accomadate you you in hopes of you coming back next purchase.

I had the same problem the dealership replaced it for free under warranty. It is a common problem with our trucks.

If I recall correctly, the upholstery is actually fairly easy to remove. You'll probably have to remove the seat to do it, but if you flip it upside down, I think you'll quickly figure out how the factory attaches the trim to the seat frame with nylon strips that are sewn into the fabric and then flip over and "hook" into the metal. No cutting required to get the fabric off the frame and you can do the padding or modification yourself.

My problem is there's no good upholstery shop around here, so i'm going to have to try it myself or go out of town and see about getting it done. Does anyone know of any good shops that do good work on vehicle upholstery, maybe in VA or NC or anywhere 2 or 3 hours fom WV? I will probably check it out myself first, but if it looks to be more than i can handle i'll take it to someone that knows what there doing. It's just starting to make my cover look a little scuffed,so if i get it fixed soon i'll be able to live with it.
