Dirty and/or worn Idle Air Control----easy, 5 minute job to clean it. It's the tomato paste can-sized cannister bolted to the rt. side of the upper plenum. Unbolt, drench with brake cleaner or another solvent, open the spring-loaded closed valve with a small screwdriver for valve seat cleaning, and bolt back with the same gasket.

I was told that is a common problem with cammed L's? Like already mentioned it could be a low tranny fluid problem or the IAC also is your tune just based in for now?

When I first did my new longblock I had the same problem with my stage II cams. My tuner had to move the idle up just a tad. I bet you have the same problems with stage IIIs.

Pete,
Hey dont you have those lumpy A$$ cams in there, are they setup for in the tune yet? Make sure that the idle is nice and steady before it goes in gear, this happens to my truck if I start it up and try to put it in gear too soon. I have the crower stage 3's too. May want to open the throttle blade up alittle if you have a single blade.

Does it do it everytime>??? Is it an abrupt stall or kinda like a lazy idle coming down stall>??? If it is a quick sudden stall, the converter clutch could be applied.
Most likely is an idle issue though. -Mat-

Yeah, Jim we set them up for the cams when I got the big mass air tube, SCT and 60# injectors. Truck idles beautifully for those stage 3 cams, Ill try opening the throttle blade up some more. My idle is around 1000 rpms right now. Ill also check the tranny fluid. My idle air speed motor is brand new. Thanks

It's ALL in the tune...you don't need to open up the TB more or have an idle that is too high just to keep from stalling..I would think 1k idle is plenty good..maybe even a little high... Your tuner should know how to fix it because it's an issue with anyone running stage 2 or 3 cams..

I had the same problem with my JDM tune and cams, also had a hot start issue. JDM told me both were normal and to bump up the idle, that did not help much. I had another tuner look at the truck and they adjusted the dashpot settings so that the idle wouldn't come down so quick and it was problem solved. Also, the tuner tweaked a few other settings and no more hot start issues, so it is all in the tune, and no its not something you should have to live with or just bump the idle to cover up. (BTW mine idles ~750RPM with stage III cams!)

Looks like the problem is my Factory Tech Total Domination converter. It seems to be locked up and and blowed up. I thought that converter would hold anything I can throw at it. So now Im in need of a converter that can hold at least 1000 hp. Any ideas?

UPDATE!!! Looks like it wasn't the Tq converter after all. Problem lead us to a faulty 4 bank chip. Jim said to send it back and he would take care of it. Pete will keep you all posted. After it comes back, it will be time to....RELEASE THE HOUNDS!!!
