Throttle Body & Performance Gains
Is it true that, from the factory the throttle body has coolant running though it? If so is this coolant is intended to warm the incoming air flow, to prevent icing during cold temperatures? If this is the case then unfortunately, this is only relevant at freezing temperatures, and at all other times it only serves to warm the air, which is not good for performance.I believe that the coolant can be routed around the throttle body, rather than through it, for gains of about 6hp and 7ft-lbs. Tell me what you guys know about this, because I sure would be interested.
Thanks,

Hey Blue, Sal here. The TB dosn't have coolant going through it. On the early Lightning's and Ford 5.0s the EGR spacer has coolant ports on it for the reasons you mentioned. Many 5.0 guys do disconnect the coolant lines, but this is just out of logical thought. No measurable gain has ever been recorded from this to my knowledge.
